Default Squeaking engine noise in morning!

hey guys, new to the forum here. I have a 2000 gs300 and it appears that only in the mornings and when the engine is cold that there is a squeaking type of engine noise that disapears after driving for a while... could this be some type of lubrication problem? i think its a quick fix, but i am not sure how to approach it and can not locate the exact source of the sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think its the belt in the front of your engine...moisture....then it burns off.

It is most likely one of the pulleys. On the V8 engines it is usually the idler pulley. On the V8 engines the idler pulley has a circular protective plate with a bolt at the center and is located near the top between the intake and the radiator hose. To find out which pulley LIGHTLY squirt some white lithium grease or WD40 between the plate and pulley at the center where the bearing is located. DO NOT SQUIRT AT THE BELT!!! If the sound disappear then you know which pulley is making the sound. Just have the dealer check it out. It is a common problem here in Guam where tropical salty air causes rust to form easily. My GS430 has had the idler pulley replaced twice under warranty. My previous 95 SC400 had the same problem also.

Hey manny, welcome to the board, I see this is your first post, I think the moderators will move your post to the engine forum, but to answer your question, the "squeaking" noise you are referring to is your belts in the front of the engine. In the morning they are cold and stiff and when they are turning on the pulleys they create the "squeak", 98% of the time you can fix the problem by going to your auto parts store and buying BELT DRESSING or otherwise known as BELT LUBE and applying it to the contact points where the belts and the pulleys touch...NOT ON THE BELT ITSELF, although it is okay, enough of this stuff on the belt may make it slip. This is a quick fix, but if the problem persist for more than 3 days after using the dressing you might want to have the belts looked at...they may need to be changed.
