Change synthetic every 6000 miles instead of 3000 for regular oil

Cons:
Expensive
Once you go synthetic you have to stay with synthetic or use a synthetic blend
Yep, Mobile 1 Full Synthetic..and they put the oil fitler on..so it is the fram filters...

Change oil every 3k, I use Amsoil and the Amsoil filter (sdf57) This stuff is incredible. If you wanna read up on it you can go to their website. I did a full search on the types of oil and also purchased the "oil bible" and this is one of the best oils out on the market. Kinda pricey though. Also read up on oil filters and found to my amazement that FRAM was very poor at taking out small particles, which can ultimately do alot of damage to the motor.

I've seen this discussed in the past, but I've yet to see a definitive answer to this question:

What is the current Toyota part number for the oil filter for a GS300?

From what I've read, almost anything is better than fram.

I use Toyota Oil Filters Part # 90915-20004

Be careful of this though - I've called some toyota dealers and given them that same part number to get pricing, and they've quoted me much lower than my normal parts guy. However, I think what is happening is that they can't really get the 90915-20004 so their computer substitutes an "equivalent" part in its place which is a completely different filter.

Do you guys using Fram filters have any idea what cheap junk you are using on your car?

Oil:
Mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30
I've been using the Toyota #90915-20004 Denso oil filter, but now that they've downgraded the filter and started making them in Thailand, I'm probably going to switch back to using Mobil 1 or K&N filters.

Gas:
93 Octane
Amoco/BP or Chevron only. I tend to switch between the two depending on what station is closest and what I want to do for my car. Amoco/BP gas is just about the cleanest out there period, and Chevron has the most effective additive package.

Everyone hates on the FRAM products. Well, a million people can't be wrong. I think I'll switch to a mobil 1 filter, anyone know the part number for SC400s, (mobil 1 oil filter)

I think people just hate on the Fram basic/double guard filters, the X2 seems to have good filter quality by comparison... but nonetheless, I think mobil 1 is more trustworthy.

Fuel: Shell 93
Oil/filter: Whatever brand the Lexus dealership is using. Change it every 5,000 miles.

Do all of you using Mobil 1 notice any difference?

Mobil 1 synthetic oil is more that twice as durable... meaning you only have to change your oil half as often. This alone makes it worthwhile because even though it costs twice as much to do a Mobil 1 oil change... it works out to the same cost per milage! Not to mention time spent doing that extra every other oil change.

Furthermore, it has a much more effective additive package than most oils... this keeps your motor internally clean as can be... with repeated use there's almost no need for products like Auto-RX and such.

And lastly Mobil one does a much better job of protecting your motor's internals than pretty much any other oil on the market.

I've even noticed a slight increase in gas milage when swapping cars to Mobil 1... (ie: about 2 tenths of a gallon)

Default Fram

Tell you what, We used to use fram oil filter in our GS. But since we don't drive the GS, one every 2 weeks. We had notice that starting engines, we would hear louder cam/valve noise for 20 sec after starting. Sound was very loud, metal to metal. Once reading on this forum, Found out that the fram filter drain back valve were leaky and would drain all the filter oil out. Then switch to toyota filter, engine completely quiet starting after. I would not have realized this if I was driving it everyday. So spend a few bucks more and protect you engine better. FYI.

Amsoil is the BEST synthetic you can possibly use.. Mobil 1 and Syntec is crap compared to Amsoil.. it doesn't break down at all and you can go up to 30,000 miles before your next oil change (not that i would, but they say that you could). Plus it doesn't burn. My Amsoil dealer scolds me for coming back to him so soon between oil changes. He's always telling me "leave it in". But i still change it every 4-5000 miles, just because.
