When the back doors of my '98 are opened the interior light don't come on as they do when the front doors are opened.

Does anyone have an idea about what the problem may be or where the switch is that controls that function?

i might be wrong, but i think only the rear reading lights turn on when you open the rear doors. do those turn on in your car? if not, you can try turning them on manually to see if you have blown bulbs.

Bad door lock actuators. They are about 300 a piece from the dealers. Do a search here on *Door Lock Actuators* and you will find some good info.

door actuators? i thought we had door triggers too. wow, mine is doing the same on the left rear door occasionally, but i never really thought about it. just figured bad door trigger

K...there are no *seperate door switches* on the 2ND gen GS. The switches are built into the the door locks......Type the search above and do some reading. Its a common problem. Its not a big deal if you have warranty left though....

Door Lock Actuators? How would they affect the interior lights coming on? Where are they located? The door locks seem to work fine, but I never really noticed. I'll check it out too.

Yes, the reading lights will come on when switched.

What, and where, is a door "trigger"?

Garris....its all one unit. The switch for the lights is built into the door lock mechanism. Trust me on this ......

I thought the car had seperate door switches too until I had a look and could not find any...

Yeap, I did the search. Not a pretty story. Have you ever taken the door panel to look "inside"? Easy, difficult?

We don't use the back doors very often, so...

Well I've never taken mine off but I dont know if will do any good to try and see if you can mess with the door locks yourself. If you cayyr small children in the back then it may be worth the cost for piece of mind; if not, its not that critical........
