Question Is this a good price for 2001 CPO GS3?

Currently, I'm doing research on the pricing of 2001 GS300 CPO.

Can you guys get me an idea what is the good price for this particular year model?

I saw one selling in SoCal area. It has 48800 miles with standard plus chrome wheels, rear spoiler and window tint. Asking for $25700.

Any comment?

thanks

Try edmunds or kelly blue book . I personally like edmunds better, but they both give you an idea of what the price should be. Edmunds will give you trade in, private party, retail, and certified pricing.

Sorry about the carfax

I went thru these sites. After compared with the asking price, it seems a nice deal.

Any comment?

thanks all

Black Book at my CU shows the retail price for a 01 GS300, 48,800 miles, average condition is $25,775.

Autotrader shows more selections under $26k and less mileage but outside of CA. If you are willing to travel, you will have more selection.

What Horacio and chrisgaddy said is great advice. I'd definitely use Edmunds, as well

Since it seems that you're looking at a CPO car, I might add that the, if it were possible to find three identical used GS' of same year/condition/mileage/options/etc., and one was at a Lex dealer, one was at a private non-Lex used dealer, and one was a private sale, here would be what I would likely expect to be the breakdown of prices:

private sale would be least expensive
next would be non-Lex used dealer
most expensive would likely be at the Lexus dealer

The non-Lex used dealer and the private sale would likely be close in price. But from one non-Lex used dealer to another, and from one private sale to another, the prices could easily vary depending on an infinite number of factors.

Depending on the time of the month, the length of time that the car has been on the dealer's lot (longer time equals lower price because they need to get rid of it), and whether there is one of those two week or month long competitions within the dealer for most sales per salesperson will all affect the final price of the car. There are, of course, other factors, but these are the big ones that come to mind.

As per the car you're looking at, the dealer should gladly give you a carfax. But of equal importance (if not really more importantly), ask the dealer to run the VIN through their national database and have them print out the car's maintenance records. You might also wish to call your insurance company with the VIN number and ask them to run an insurance-records check; carfax doesn't do the insurance records check, and I can't be confident that all (if any) insurance stuff would show up in national Lex database.

Personally, I'd also recommend using the search feature to look for advice in other threads, as well. There's a TON of great stuff out there.

some advice for all. edmunds and kbb does NOT give acurate price values of a cara,, it gives you an approx.. of the car's value, i am in the car business and i can tell you for a fact it doesnt represent the true market value, if thought edmunds claims to be the TMV its not.. retial on my car is like 24k, but i will only get about 19-20 for the car when it is stock, i am gonna run it through a an auction on next tuesday (when its stock) and see what it brings, again it is tax season so wholesale prices are up alot although are not quite retail, i can get a n 01 gs3 for under 20k but loaded out with nai and low miles i might spend 23 maybe 24k , keep this in mind that that car dealers have a lot more lee way than you think. i just bought my girl a 01 is300 at the auction , this thing is loaded with everything except navi, black on black car. it is mint, 40k miles, i paid 14500 for it.... the car sells all day long for around 20k so know that if it is for sale at 25k you can get it for 23k if you know how to nego. car dealers ALWAYS are willing to nego. it might take a day or 2 to get a response but you always will.
BUT this is my 2 cents you dont have to take my advice.
rick
ps. look in the auto trader , evrey once in a while you will find a steal, i found a 00 gs3 in florida with 22,500 miles, for 20,000, this car is perfect. so there are dealas to be found.

oh ya, the best actual vechile price would without a doubt be NADA book, this is what most car dealers use. ( a little hint for those if you look in the NADA at loan value that is more than what the car dealer paid for the car) BELIEVE ME
