this has probably been posted here before, but I am somewhat disappointed the GS did not get perfect ratings all across. The left leg/ foot area is only acceptable. this worries me. I never saw this before buying my car, If I have known, I would not have purchased this vehicle. Is there other tests that have been done for the GS?
Robert.

Robert:
You have to remember that the current 2nd generation GS has been out since 1997 (1998 model year). It is still consider a Best Pick by IIHS. Of course the newer luxury car will alway have better safety and rating.

Just be glad it does not have any POOR or MARGINAL rating.
Just look at the 1997 to 2001 Q45.

You are right there several cars that are just death traps!
But From Lexus " Passionate Pursuit of Perfection" It is hard to swallow for me. But I am happy that the head and neck, and chest recieved perfect scores.
Both my previous 5 and E didnt seem to have this foot/leg average rating though.

I never looked at anything related to safety when I bought the car. The best safety factor is keeping your eyes open and avoiding trouble.

But you are right, judgement is the best key to aviod such things. But with so many drunk drivers and drug-ed up drivers out there, You can only do so much yourself.

The biggest, heaviest SUV usually wins in a two-vehicle crash. The driver and passenger in the larger SUV usually suffer less injuries in majority of head-on accidents here.

Having recently survived a head on collision in my 2003 GS300 SportDesign, resulting in bruises around my waist (seat belt) and a bruise just below one of my knees (dash), I have to give the GS300 nothing but the highest ratings. All air bags deployed, and I was able to walk out and about as if nothing happened. (The next day, I had the headache to end all headaches.) In fact, the paramedics that arrived at the scene were all amazed, the doctor in the emergency room (after catscans revealed no internal bleeding whatsoever) was amazed, and most of all, *I* was amazed that the few bruises were all I had to show for it.
