Default Steering ECU = YES.

Definitely worth the $125 or so...luckily, my local Lexus tech guy installed the ECU free of charge during my 5000 mile "tune up" (aka: "Overglorified Oil Change")...he's a really cool guy...tells me all the haps with the electronics and the car...

I too think this steering ECU should be STOCK with the GS.

Default they all it for the $$$

imho, all the L-tune stuff is another way for the corporate lex people to make money of us car dudes here in the states. i.e., the shocks are part of the sport pkg gor the gs in europe. like you guys said, the "l-tune" ecu SHOULD be the std equip on the gs. driving a high hp gs is just plain dangerous with the stock ecu. i like them tight and firm.

Why do you have to get it in Canada? Order from Steve at Carson - I'm sure he can send it to ya there.

I'm a klutz when it comes to car work, but even I could install the ECU. As long as you've got a socket set and a screw driver, it's easy. The only electrical connection is unplugging one connector (which can only go one way) from the old ECU, and plugging it into the new one. The ECU is mounted to a mounting point with a bolt.

On the old ClubLexus there was an arcticle on how to do the ECU swap-out. See if you can find it there.

First off, I expect the 'sport package' isn't free in Europe.

But I agree the GS400/430 should NOT be tuned (handling/steering) the same way as the 300. With 300HP, it needs precise steering/handling to maintain control.

I deleted the URL for the old clublexus forum. Will the instruction come with ECU if I purchase it from Steve? Or you can kindly post the link. Thanks.

Wink Steering ECU installation

Racing Aristo:

If you need help on the installation, e-mail me at eaglepub@psnw.com. I can fax you the instructions or guide you thru it. The ECU comes with no instructions. It takes about 15 minutes to install.
