Default GS300 water in trunk

Hello,

I have been finding water in my 2001 trunk. It does not get on the mat. I find it under the plastic spare tire cover in the corner pocket. Has anyone else had this issue? I also get a resonating sound from the driver side engine compartment when slowly accelerating. I would best describe it as a heat sheild resonating but the exhaust is on the opposite side. Going to dealer tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had these issues.

Thanks for any help

I've had some water in the same area too. Though I can never catch it. I had a small box in the back filled with lug nuts that got soaked and fell apart.

If its what I think it is, check the following:

Under your spare tire, there should be a rubber plug. Mine didnt have it when I bought the car. When I upgraded to my current wheels, I took the spare out and saw the hole. I never saw any water, but it was obvious that there was water there at some point.

I went to Lexus and they confirmed that there should be a rubber plug there. If I recall it was about $5 for the plug.

Lexus has had my car for 3 days now for headlight change out and trunk leak. They have been looking for the water leak for 2 days now. I have to give them an "A" for Effort.

Could be the gasket/seal behind one of the tail lamps.

did you get a rear spolier at one point if so check to see if water is coming through hole for spolier to hold down....otherwise try spraying water around to find source.

Now we are on day 4. I did a suprise visit yesterday. I was beginning to think they had wrecked the car and was repairing it. So in 4 days they have replaced the headlight assembly and try to find a water leak. I will stop buy after work tonight and pull the car. If they cannot get it in 4days they do not have the ability to do it. I was a mechanic for 4 years and never had it taken this long.

I got good news and bad news. They never could duplicate the trunk leak but it has not leaked since I got it back and it rained all weekend. The good news is beyond my wildest expectations they fixed the rattle from the engine!!!!! It was a bracket near a aluminuim line which was rubbing making the noise. The bracket is located directly below the master cylinder and as I can see it serves no purpose.
