Default Future Owner dilemna? AWD, V-6 GS 300 or RWD, V-8, GS 430? A new model discussion.

I was thinking, is this not a tough decision? AWD capabilites speak for themselves and this question may be tougher for those in the snowbelt (or an easier decision). RWD will be lighter and mixes the great V-8. I was not even sure what move I would do (if I were to buy) especially if the aftermarket boosts the V-6. Not sure of the next price but I see an AWD GS 300 about 48k, the same price as a GS 430 now. Looking at the RX 330 (a 36-48k vehicle) the GS 430 may move up in price as well, to 60k loaded.

Finally we have 2 V-6s then? The 3.3 in the ES and RX 330 and a 3.0 (with more power) in the next GS and IS. WIll the next GS then remain a 300, behind the ES 330 and RX 330 (which are models under the GS).

And drats, I think we lose the yellow fogs.

Also, with Audi showing their new A6 and it is to be released later this year, it is weird for Lexus to introduce the new GS so early and sell it basically over a year later. The last gen GS bean being sold in October/November of 1997 (I believe). So the 2006 GS will be sold next spring?

Finally, the LOOOOOOOOOOONGSHOT, when or if Lexus does introduce the AMG/M competitor GS, will it be a hybrid AWD version? Or just a high power V-8?

In our cold , n very slippery conditions + lousy cooper winter tires means 0 percent not even 1 traction for me in winter (Dec - April!) So definetely AWD. If not for sure the 430, but too much for budget anyways...Pretty sure going with it, cause we luv our '98!

- You sure sure sure the AWD is on only the 300, cause i coulda sworn I heard otherwise.

-Is it availble next January then?

The prices are getting up there. In my opinion, they are getting too high. I know it's normal for them to raise after a body change, but in five years, the base prices of lexus will be like 37. No longer holding it's own against mercedes and bmw.

I would pick lexus over benz now anyways unless you get an amg, the e class is gorgeous but maybe only with the spor wheels, or else its bland, not a great package all in one like the new gs.

Finally, I saw the a6 pics and i for one am not very impressed, the back looks an awful lot like the previous lights, and from the side it is so subtle you really can hardly tell the difference! You want a little attention and feeling like you have the newest for a while, that's part of the joy of spending your money!

I love lexus's in general, hope to stick with 'em for a long time. Whatcha think the sc, luv for us to have one
as summer drive pretty soon too....

For me, I am thinking the AWD V6 will be fine. with ML\NAV I was thinking it will top out at about 50k???? Still a tad less then a loaded 430 right now...

I really doubt that the pricing will be that high for the 300...they want to remain competitive and continue to change out prior GS owners to the new model. Lexus historically comes in with a new model at or below the current models pricing...take the RX for example, the 330 was $500 less than the 300 when they first came out.

I would love to just be able to get a supercharged GS300 AWD off the lot...

If you figure out what to do, let me know. I am sort of in a similar boat. I am on the fence between waiting for the new GS or just getting a preowned one in the current body style.

I just wish the new GS was out now, rather than a year from now. The wait is a killer.

I love the current body style, but AWD is definitely a tempting feature that just might make me wait the extra year. Just an added bonus of having to drive in the winter months here in NY. For me, getting AWD will be more about driver comfort, more than performance.
