HID Headlights - Need input.
I know this should probably be posted in lighting but I really think this question is model specific.
I discovered that the driver's side HID headlight is not working. I have also discovered the bulbs are supposed to last a long time and are outrageously expensive.
Other than a blown bulb, what other things could cause the light not to function?
Does anyone have a procedure to remove and replace the bulb? If so, can you tell me under what catagory is it listed in the factory repair manual (abbreviation in letters). Does anyone know where the factory ballasts are located and how to troubleshoot the system - fuses, wiring, etc.?
Does anyone know what brand and temp the factory bulb is and where to buy a replacement cheap? If I only replace one, I have read that my headlights will differ in color. I am assuming that the bulbs are original 1998's. How severe will the difference be?
Thanks..

damn you call me out
anyway, the bulbs SHOULD last for a long time, but it will still die and if you get the slightest moister on the light it will die almost right the way
i don't have repair manual so i don't know where the instructions are. i know how to do it but seriously i dont know how to describe it here, just hard. the process isn't, but it's hard to explain how...
if anything, i wuld say the bulb will go out before the ballasts. the ballasts are pretty strong

My light works again!
Tonight my light works again. I only had it on for a few minutes but it seems normal. Maybe some water from the car wash got into the housing or on the wiring.
Hopefully it will continue to work.
Thanks everyone..

Hey - good luck..... I would probebly say that the bulbs going out tho - mine were on / off / on / off back and forth for about a week before it finally stopped working. The bulbs arent THAT expensive... 150 a set? but they should last 4-5 years... depending on condensation etc.... hope it works for you
