Default Stripped and Stained Wood Shift ****

Well....the shift **** I bought online didn't really match my burlwood panels (looked like a match).....the **** was too golden brown....so I stripped it (Jasco), stained it (MinWax), and then dipped it several times in Polyurethane.

Here's the results. What you think?

Nice job. I'm glad mine matched pretty well so I did not have to do this.

I suffer from the same thing. My shifter is just slightly more brown in tone than red. Now I have the answer although probably not the skill...

Doug

Looks great PHML

No....just shaky hands. I took the pic while the car was moving. LOL!!

The second pic I took when I was at a stop light....much more clear cuz my hands weren't moving.

Doug -

This was the 1st time I ever did something like this (unless you count my DIY chrome grill). First time I ever stripped wood, stained wood, or worked with polyurethane....so I was at Home Depot and Lowes asking so many questions.

Its pretty simple....takes alot of patience though. The hardest part was finding the stain that matches.
