New vs. Used 430 - maint after 40,000
In 99 I got a GS 300, in 2001 I got a GS 430. Beautiful Black on Black with nav / lev/fac 17" chrome. Lease is now over and here is where I need the input. I can buy mine for $34,000. It is in awesome condition but has 45,000 miles. So:
1) What expense/repair/extra maintenance should I plan to incur from 45,000 to the 80,000?
2) Should I get a new 04 instead and just enjoy.
3) what kind of extended warranties are out there?
4) Can the dealer certify it and what should I expect to pay?
5) In keeping the 01 does the 04 have any changes improvements other than new nav info?
6) If I go with 04 what can I expect to pay for GS 430 with all options.
Thanks for any and all input.

First question is who is your lease through? If it is through someone other than Lexus, you can often negotiate the price down on the buy out. I don't think you can do that with Lexus Financial. Per Edmunds, in your area, looks like $34K is a fair price. If you are set on a new GS in 06, I'd buy your car out - not worth getting an 04 which is basically the exact same thing as what you have (ok,the wood is different and the seats are perforated).
I wouldn't waste the money on certifying the car or getting an extended warranty unless you know your car has a problem that needs addressing.
New 04s are going for $48-$50K loaded - at least up here in Chicago and they only come fully loaded black on black with chromes (except up here, they don't have spoilers - don't ask).
