I would say yes, I've owned the car 1 month and done:

Starter, brakes, control arms, ball joints, tie-rods, swaybars, exhaust, springs, struts

All depends... but I prefer a good mechanic do the job. (they need to live too)
1- He have the tools and experience
2- He have the TIME.
... and sometimes a simple thing becomes a big one.

Remember changing the front pads to a car many years ago.
I was needing a press to compress the piston back. I didn't found any (was missing) I have to walk to Western auto but they didn't have the right size.
I finished getting so furious that I stroke my 12" foot into the fender. HA!
So simple & took me hrs & a dent fender!! Nahh!

The only I do to my car is wash it sometimes.

The only thing DIY on my car was the wooden shift **** ... I would love to do stuff to my car on my own but I know nothing about getting inside the car and ripping things out to put new things in, scares the crap outta me

When every car stereo shop can't install a simple 1-din headunit, well, its time to DIY.

One time I went into a store asking if they have any radio kit for (2) 1DIN. They tell me that it doesn't exist and that I would have to get them to custom make it for me. Went online and what do you know..I found a kit

I'm a total DIY type of guy. Now when something is out of my understanding or skill then that's when I pass the torch to a pro.

"There is nothing more true than if you want something done right do It your self, and if you can't do it right wait or pay to get it done ONCE!"

i do all of the polishing and detail work myself. i also can do some other simple stuffs like changing head unit ect... but i think that is not really a type of DIY person.
i really want to be a DIY guy. but there are a few things stand between me and that guy : first of all, i dont have enough knowledge about cars to do it myself. second, i dont have place and tools. third and most important reason, i wanna try but i'm kind a perfect demand guy, so i dont wanna screw up my car since i've never do any mod by myself. also because i'm a perfect demand guy, i really wanna do it myself, cause you know, nobody takes care of your car like you do

sometimes, just like brake pads I've just bought ($100) I asked around and the labor everywhere is $100 at least...
but for things like tire mount and balance or when it's winter and it's -40 outside, I don't think I can do anything...

When I first got my car, I didn't know how to do anything. Then I realized how much money labor cost me. If I have time and a few buddies to help, working on my own car is very rewarding. There's plenty of helpful DIYs on here.
