Default Grill Opinion: DSR vs. L-tuned

Well I was staring at dee's car and rominl's car and I wondered to myself, which grille looks better.... So I leave it up to you guys, which grill would look better with a lsportline front end and chrome 20's, same spectra blue exterior....

Personally....I like the DSR look in general.....1-tone or 2-tone....maybe cuz its new and different...plus, it seems everyone got either the LTuned, RMM, or TRD ones....which gets kinda repetitive...imo.

Where? That looks like the RMM grille and bumper.

As for the grille, I actually like the "empty" look of the L-Sportline (TRD, ...). It looks meaner to me. I did not like the DSR grille that much. rominl's two-tone made it more interesting but I would not like it in one color. Everyone is different and has a different objective for their car. Alhough there are a decent number of grilles for the GS, you are really limited to styles though: "empty, 1 horizontal line, 2 horizontal lines, 3 horizontal line, lots of slats (vertical and horizontal). I've also seen really funky ones but I think it would take away from the classiness of the GS.

L-tuned hands down.Something about the DSR doesnt flow right. The way the top part of the grill is curved is different from the curves of the crossbars.Looks too homemade for my taste(no offense Rominl, you know I love your car )

I like the all blue L-tuned. The 2-line silver just don't look right with the DSR blue/siver combo grill.

You can't really go wrong with one or the other.

DSR is hands-down more VIP with the 3 horizontal bars while the L-tuned is a bit more to the racey side with its larger opened slats. I would take the DSR simply for its newer and more rare factor. Besides, with the DSR, you can have quite a few options on your hand: Fully painted for the flush color-matched look (what Alex did on his car, can I say MEAN?!), leave the 3 slats unpainted if you opt for the carbonfiber (which is what I'll be doing), do what Rominl did with the 2-tone paintjob (which is waaay wicked! )

What it boils down to is what kind of look you are looking for. I started out my modifications thinking I will be going down the racey path. But I ended up purchasing the autocouture (very vip-ish) wheels a few months back, so I've switched to a more elegant, VIP-ish look. For me, DSR is the only way to go.

3 bars ? Are you talking about the same grill or do they make another one with three bars?

Ahhh buddy. I actually count the very top larger slat because if you look at it carefully, that slat is actually detached from the rest of the grill surround. So technically the DSR is a 3-slat item.

ohhhh buddy I consider that part of the grill surround, detached or not.You wouldnt leave that unpainted like the other slats, would you?Slats are the things that go across in the open space of the grill.Like the L-tuned has one slat and the DSR has two slats( in my eye that is )But why am I taking up space in this thread talking about slats

Why not? This is what I will be doing..... just to be different.

Some pics from the the other "jdm website":

I think it's important to talk about the slats because this precisely shows the versatility of the DSR grill and the kind of look you want to achieve.

from the 2 choices u give 2 choose from with the l-sport bumper in mind i would do the l-tuned....personally i would do the l-sport,trd or tte grill with the front bumper but from the choices given the l-tuned would flow nicer with that bumper.....i don't think it matters if we c the grill or bumper a lot on our board cus can u count how many times u will c it in real life driveing down the street?...it really depends on the person's opinion like neo said, some like 2 b different, some like 2 get what they like even if someone (on the board) already has it...i go by what i c locally not by a world wide forum..good luck...and 2 b honest like richie said ,u really can't go wrong here!!
