Question

... is there such a thing? I heard the RMM one doesn't fit. What about if I take out the engine cover? Thanks for any info.

i know the TRD one doesn't fit but the RMM one should, besides that intake manifold cover is UGLY! take it off!! (just a suggestion of coarse)

98s didn't come with one

i don't think 99s did either

only 2000 and 2001s have engine covers. IMO I don't like it so I took it off

The RMM one will sure fit the 300. This is a fact that was posted a few months ago, someone on CL checked with RMM and they said it will. I'm not sure about if we have to remove the engine cover though. Probably do.

This company in Japan also has a bar for the GS3, it's called Juran. Here's a pic.

I Think the best thing to do is to get the TRD bar and use spacers. Michael use spacers and he said that doesn't kill the structural rigidity. But I'm not sure if adding spacers will force the bar to hit the hood. Someone needs to check it out.

The RMM STB will fit. I've got one on my 99 GS300. The 99's did not come with an intake manifold cover. I kinda wanted one before, but i couldn't get it to bolt on because the intake manifold did not have the mounting holes. Funny thing was that there were mounting holes on the valve cover. Hmmm... It wouldn't have fit under the RMM STB anways. Not enough clearance. So it worked out in the end.

thanks allan for the detailed info. The RMM bar doesn't look bad. Pretty nice.
What kind of filter is that?

And do you know how to tell the difference between 1st and 2nd gen RMM intake?

Smile thanks y'all.

Thanks you all for your valuable input.

Hey Allan, do you experience any pinging with the RMM intake? I heard from others that the RMM makes the engine runs lean... is that true?

GlobeCLK,

No problem at all. I'm always glad to share some info, how little I can.

That's a K&N Filter. I'm thinking of getting the Blitz filter - like you have. It matches the car better and I heard it sounds nice too. Swoosh! :-) I think your right LexusRules, its probably a Gen1... I did not know that there was a Gen2 for this 300. Last time I talked to RMM, when I got the STB last Oct, they did not have a heatshield for the 300. They did offer to make one for me, but I didn't get to follow through on it. So now there's a Gen2, with a heatshield huh? I gotta call RMM and see if I can get the heatshield now.

ARIST,

In terms of pinging, I myself don't notice it at all. I've been using Mobil 92 octane and things seem to be fine. Now you have me wondering. Hmmmm.... I'll have a listen tomorrow and post what I find/hear.

Of course that means driving with my stereo off! Those that know me, know that I'm always listening to music. But hey, anything for you guys. I've gotten so much insight from you guys since last year, it's the least that I could do for now. hehehee...
