Default well , the time has come

dave and lexo , i know this probably should be in the clubhouse but could you leave it here for just a day or two

well my fellow brethren , the time has come , I NEED BOOST.. my good friend and next door neighbor has a black on black 2001 c5 vette and boosted it 3 weeks ago .. i gave him some advice as to sell it and get a zo6 instead , better platform for the supercharger , well he did just that 2 days ago , now i see black on blck c5 and zo6 staring at me every day..

heres my question/poll

i want to park the gs and finish it into show quality , so i need a daily driver but I NEED BOOST..i have been thinking for the last 3-5 months about getting a 89-92 mk3 turbo supra and boost it up to over 400 rwhp and also to hang with my bud alsiverbullet in his pristine mk3 .. or get a 93-95 sc300 with the famouse 2jzge engine and boost that with 5 speed to about the same

i have been following different supra forums and the consensus i am getting from alot of these mk3 owners is , its a money pit , they are just to old to handle the day to day high boosting without something always breaking , the sc 300 on the other hand is as reliable as they come with the 2 jz block and head and class to follow..

which one would you guys recc so i can start the project get BOOST and start teaching my zo6 friend some manners

L4L, what kind of rwhp #'s is the Z06 putting down? Those things have something to the effect of 405 hp from the factory, correct? I'm only asking because if he's putting down 425-450rwhp then you made need more artillery in your arsenal to combat him.

My .02 go for the 5spd SC, although I have had a sweet spot for the mk3 since the fall of 85 when my uncle got one, the SC is just a fresher, more modern design, it has a more luxurious interior, and it has that ever impressive "L" on the front!! LOL Plus I just like SC's (I almost got one before I found my GS!)

Also, dont really worry about beating people and crap like that, just build her for that awesome freeway bruising power that you want. If someone chokes on dust in the process then so be it!!

C'mon man, just imagine parking THIS next to your car in the driveway!! Forget about power, your neighbor would keel over and die from "deep black paint" poisoning!!!

Every time I look at that car my jaw drops, and then i see the garage, then i start drooling on my keyboard..... Man, that is a beaut

You just need to get a SC and drop in a JDM supra engine and 6-speed

Here's another example of a beautiful SC, Manaray's with 20's

I guess thats the rub, he's gonna have to make a choice, because a everyday 400+ rwhp car may not be too practical, especially while also modding the GS. Probably a best bet to get a nice every car (maybe ES like Reggie) and go all out with power on the GS then!

i don't get it either....everyday car with crazy boost and that kind of rwhp? that seems more like a weekend toy than an everyday driver....tough decision 2 make...u want 2 make the gs a show car and have a powerful daily that u will b dumping a lot of funds into at the same time.....i say get a 5 speed sc3 and do a simple turbo 4 everyday use....

thats exactly what i was thinking , maybe i threw you guys off with the numbers , i sc300 with alittle lowering , mk4 tt wheels , exaust, no body kit , and a very mild kit from boostlogic or dave h will do 320 to the wheels which is around 380-400 at the crank give or take and very practical for everyday use ..

the whole reason to do the sc300 or supra is the 2jz eng and 7m eng are easily replaceable or rebuildable if something goes kaboom , the gs 400 with vvti head , who knows what it would cost if the same happens , to risky to me

Yeah probably the Z06 reference threw us for a loop. I guess with a basic kit, bolt ons, and suspension/wheels that could be a good daikly driver! Does anyone know a turbo daily driven SC? How long is your work commute? That's important also.

D

my commute is only about 10 miles a day but i will be driving to other places soon like from ft lauderdale into the west palm stuart area and back

i just want to take the miles off from the gs and preserve it abit better so the sc will give me comfort style and reliability and with a bolt on kit like from boostlogic can do 320-350 rwp and drive evryday

remember this is a 2jzge engine we are talking about and since i am keeping boost to around 9-12 lbs and well under 400 rwp the 5 sp tranny and stock clutch is fine, ya know D i just off the phone with johnee78 and he says sc300 all the way

yeah man I know Johnee has been doing tons of research on turbo's for that motor, so he can help ya out. I'm sure if you keep it simple you will have everything you want: comfort, style, speed and reliability! good luck on the search!
