Default limp windshield wiper

An interesting thing happened to me today while driving my new baby. I was driving back from lunch in the hard rain with the wipers on continuous-slow. As the driver side is going up I noticed the passenger side one come up in sync with the other one and then fall back down as it came half way up. From this point on the driver side one is the only one working. After checking the passenger side one when I stopped it appears pretty limp. Great. Oh wait, it is Monday. Bad omen or bad luck? My old BMW did the same thing when I first got it so now I had to laugh. Any ideas? I figured something stripped out but won't have time to look at it until later.

the bolt that attaches the whole wiper arm to the car is probably just loose. It happens all the time...check that tightened it up and it just may solve the prob...if not...then ummm

Bingo. Thanks for the pointer before I had a chance to check it. I tightened her down and it's like it was before. I even got to mess with the summer/winter settings of the wipers themselves.

I did notice that my driver side down in the summer setting just barely clears underneath the hood..maybe by .25"? There was a paint chip there too like it had hit it before. Is this normal to have it so close?

I also saw the driver side wiper had a big deflector type of wing on it seemingly to push the wiper down in high speed. Do you only use refills on these wipers or what? I couldn't figure out how to take it off so I might use it on another blade. It looks riveted to the top of the blade. Thanks.

I use OEM wiper refills, they werent' available at my local Lexus dealership, but I ordered them (among other things) from Carson Toyota for about $4 each.

See here for replacement info:
