High Mileage 400 or 430's
Anyone out there have a high mileage 4.0L or 4.3L V8?
If so, any issues or tips?
I have a 01 GS 430 that I just picked up with 43K on it and I want to drive it another 100K.
Thanks

the lex/toyota v8 is generally bulletproof......just take care of the car w/ regular oil changes and mechanical inspections/check tranny fluid, etc.....i'd say your car could probably easily survive 200k miles and then some w/ no major issues coming up
generally, the most important service times at 45, 60, 75, and DEFINITELY 90k miles when the timing belt is swapped. i haven't noticed rough idle problems posted from 01+ 430's. other typical problems include condensation in the headlights (when you first notice it, take it to the dealer asap and get headlights replaced under warranty.....otherwise that'll be ~$1800 later from what my mech told me)
also, let other people spend money before you do(sorry to some of y'all)----learn from other people's mistakes before you experiment with mods/types of mod.....mods cost a lot of $$$ and the search feature on this site will save u money----and just ask around of course

just gonna add on that you might find some GS400 guys with high mileage, but GS430 guys with over 150-200k miles are far more rare.....430 just came out too recently for that...

I am the 2nd owner of my 1998 GS400. I bought it from a Lexus Dealer as a Certified Pre-Owned car nearly 3 years ago. My car has 73K miles on it now, and it runs just like the day I picked it up (36K miles, running very well). I always take the car to Lexus for the maintenance at the prescribed intervals. This car is running so well I am totally confident it will hit 150K miles with no major problems (maybe even 200K). This is my second Lexus, and both cars are excellent vehicles. I chose Lexus because they are top-rated for reliablity and comfort, satisfaction, etc. I am extremely happy with my two Lexus cars. I really like the fact that I can start with a high-quality car and mod it out with wheels, tires, exhaust, suspension, etc and it will still have higher quality than other competing car brands new from the factory!. However, I don't make any modifications that will void my drivetrain warranty. I am a stickler for reliability, so I rely on the Lexus Engineers (no aftermarket intake, etc). I always fill up with the highest grade of fuel that I can find (Premium). If I am going to pour money into mods, I want this car to last, so I take good care of the car.

small things like the little transmision hop between 1st and 2nd.....only thing i can feel noticable different between my car and a newer lower milleage GS
you can deff grab 140k out of it comfortably
