gs3 ect
Im trying to decide wether to buy a 01 audi a4 or a 98 gs300. The thing im most interested in is wether or not the gs is good in the snow. I know the audi will be good because of quattro but will the gs be any good with the ect switch on snow? Someone please help me out this is a very tough decision.

There is a lengthy discussion of A4 Vs GS here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hreadid=115789
It hasn't snowed since I've had my GS400, I know the 2 times I took my LS out in the snow it was pretty horrible, but then again it didn't have traction control.
Here's a suggestion: get the GS and a $500 beater (in my case it's an 87 Honda Accord). Drive the GS on nice days and the beater when it snows (or in my case when it rains too). This way you don't have to subject your beautiful Lexus to salt, potential fenderbenders etc etc

everyone agrees: no summer tires during winter.....it's suicidal
otherwise, i've heard "no ways" and "can be better than 4wd w/all seasons if you put bizzack snow tires on the GS"
personally, i live in rural northeast ohio......and this was my first winter with the gs and first winter ever having to deal with driving in snow. this year was a record snow year, i got all season tires, and i just hit the snow mode and took it VERY easy; the guys at the dealership in cols said that they were sure i'd need snow tires with the GS in a city, let alone out in the boonies where i am. but i had no problems whatsoever besides an occasional spinning wheel. and this is actually a hilly area of ohio, which would seem to have made things worse.
