My super awesome key mod is that it eats batteries like candy!!!! 2 a month! please tell me thats not normal! my old viper alarm remote's been on the same battery goin on 2 years...... Ive nevver had problems with range as others have reported - and it works flawlessly until the battery gives out....

Well - ok so its not a mod but i bet a lot more people looked at it I'd be gratefull for any help with this stoooopid issue...

Thanks,
Andrew

My guess is you have a short in the key somehow and a button is basically continually pressed. Does everything work on the key?

well you can still have a leak somewhere else without the light coming on. better be the case, otherwise your car might be unlocked all the time

try to use a cloth and clean it inside out and see. otherwise bring it to dealership and see what's up?

Take it to the dealership and let them work it out. If your car is still under warranty, there should be no problem or cost for you.

OMG, do not take it to the dealership. It's not worth it! Buy a couple extra batteries next time and you're good to go. Its not worth fixing.

Talking

first off.... Damn you GS Doug for your 3 year battery life...
second - I was thinking of buyin a replacement key/remote from ebay - and just programing that one - anyone think that would work? I could even just use the remote portion of the unit?

Thanks for the input guys / gals - appreciate it. Maybe my next mod will really be a mod

I've had mine going on 2 yrs now w/o any problems.

As much as some say don't go to the dealer, I would think they would fix/replace this under warranty and I have always had excellent service from my dealer.

Wink

start putting your keys in the refrigerator at night, could retain the life of the battery a little longer!

Warrantee - well dont have one - Mines a 99 GS400 - A tad out of warentee - thats why i was concidering using ebay, figured a new key/remote might solve the problem.

I agree, it's not about the money....but it's annoying having to change the battery every 2 weeks. It definitely isn't normal.
