Information at Lexus.com says 'Walnut interior trim' for the GS so it is real wood. You can always call or email Lexus Customer Satisfaction department and ask.

All the wood inside the GS is synthetic. Remember when Rominl got his painted the Blackwood pattern he found out it was all fake. Mine came wth a wood dash kit. It looks lame in my opinion I might start with a blow dryer and some rubbing alcohal to get them all off.

The 'wood' in the GS is a high quality plastic sticker.

No real wood.

Sure. Thats what Rominl and Korenpers did. Also TTurbopimp. I woudnt paint it yourself PM them and see where they sent it to. The finish looked perfect.

simply put - NO wood, all plastic with 6 screws in the back to make it "solid" that's all

btw, the blackwood i have isn't painted, it's something photo adhesive stuff, painting is actually a pretty bad idea coz' you can chip it easily

Probably there was real wood in the early Lexus???

Note, the typical Japanese wood quality (and that can be offered in large quantity( is nowhere as good as the European or American wood. In order to assure that it looks good, probably artificial wood is one of the better options.

gammalex your best bet would be to get a heat gun for like 20 bucks that will remove the glue as well !!
and some denatured alcohol

Do a search under blackwood and you will find many recent threads that Rominl and I started. You have to have the blackwood done by a professional shop that does this for a living. Most of these shop are international and you must send your pieces there. It takes many man hours to get the job done right. Your other option is to buy the Blackwood JDM pieces from Steve Ganz.
