The people in HK are generally very fashionable, also when it is about cars. Most cars (except probably some Mercedes, Toyota, BMW , ...) only sell well in the first 1 -2 years.

Also, BMW marketing promotion was quite a success, so everyone it trying to a share out of it.

The reason the prices are cheap because of the heavy competition among the JDM tuning shops and as you can see they are all right next to each other selling the same parts! They are also a lot closer to Japan with many close ties to the Japanese factories, thus they get better prices and cheaper shipping charges than you guys in US.

Don't be fooled. You may be able to handcarry small items with you on the plane back to the US or something, but if you are looking into larger stuff like bodykits, swaybars, etc.... Good luck with that!

I personally prefer to have Alex help me because he's really close with these guys and also a great friend to me. Heck look at my car! It will never be where it is today without him hehehehe.

Hmm, is that a good thing or a bad thing......

Post info on the silver Aristo

FYI, the silver Aristo belongs to the owner of that shop (Loongwah). Regarding its mod: it's got ARC intake, ARC intercooler, Blitz muffler, TRD radiator hoses, TOM's ADVOX coilovers TRD tower bar, lower control braces, LS430 4-pot calipers up front , Supre 2-pot in the back, VARIS CF hood, Ganador side mirror....... They are also racing some nicely modified Altezza & AE86 in China.

Why would he get pulled over? As long as he's not speeding, I am assuming he'd be fine?

in hong kong a lot of car mods are illegal, and they will literally tow your car away for that

Officially everything that is non-factory could be seen as potentially illegal.
This will be examined at a designated testing center when you need to certify your car (when the car is more than 6 years old) or when you **** off the police.

However, the police is not pulling people over easily, unless you are speeding.

From the mods on that Aristo, I only see the BBK as illegal... currently the testing centers are doing difficult on brakes that use a seperate bracket to install the caliper ... the rest of the mods is in most cases not a problem.

...

The Aristo is only fast on highways, and get complete whipped by all kinds of other cars on all the other ways

I think the chance of an Aristo being stolen in HK is much much higher than of being pulled over by cops. In the last few months, I've already heard a few cases of Aristo owners paying US$7-8K ransom to get their cars back. I'm riding a much more expensive "car" to work these days..........................subways!

That's very true.

Car ownership in HK is quite expensive too...
