There should be no problem red painting the tailights minus the reverse lights. I know a few members here have done it, a couple of them are DGOT20s and 2001HiTechGS. I'm sure they'll chime in this thread. Pics of these tailights have floated around for a while, so go thru a search for them.

Did anyone ever do a quick write up on how to do this? I assume you just tape off or remove and shoot with the (previously mentioned) candy red paint from Wal-Mart? I didn't see any more specifics.

Just PM Tranman He sells precut vinyl for the taillights. Thats what i had on my 98-00 tails and thats what i have on my +2001 tails. The only downside I see with the paint is that the taliights arent as smooth and the reflect light different from the unpainted portion. You can paint the whole taillight but the reverse so it will blend better but it still will look not as sooth and shiny as not painting them. Unless you clear and buff them after you paint them with that Testors Candy Apple red.

I painted mine with candy red color but it is not shiny enough to match the rest of the light, I am thinking about puttin the red film tint over the candy red paint...will this be too dark?

Gentlemen. As I have said this before about 4 X already....
USE JAPAN BRAKE TAIL LAMP SPRAY paint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2 coats = 20% LIGHT transparency. It is totally OEM factory look. It is smooth & looks perfect!!!

Ask any of the people who were at the CL East Coast Meet...
I used to apply tape too. 2001Hitechgs told me about the paint & he painted the tails for me. TRY IT! LEARN!

Paul

Ask member Dgot's he'll tell ya about it.

Thumbs up thank you

That is the paint used for light bulbs. I'm talking about the Tail Light lamp spray.

Paul...

the description for this product says you can use it for both bulb and tail light housing. Is there another specifically for tail light housing?
