Default URGENT!! Need advice on wheel spacers!

I'd like to get my stock 17" chromies to be more towards the lip until I can afford to get the new rims.

what size do I get?? the 15mm or the 25mm??? Heck, should I even get them? Is there anything to be concerned about with them??

Also, anyone know who the actual manufacturer is? Carson Toyota said they can check their price if I could tell them the manufacturer.

I'd like to order these dogs today with a grill if I can.....

Thanks!

Dumb question. I'm a relative newbie to the site. I assume installing the spacers is as easy as changing a tire, right?

AWESOME Varcity64. You just saved me 30 min. of price shopping. hehe

Carson can't get them so I was going to have to shop around. I went ahead and just got them from Ebay.

Thanks to you both!

PS. yes, they are as easy to put on as changing a tire. or, 2 tires.

Yeah they are easy to install. They take a litle messing with to get them on, and make sure you have a thin wall socket that will fit in the holes to tighten the lugs. Also make sure you use some silicone spray on the back of them so they are easier to take off later. Torque those babies down really good. Re-check the torque after about 50 miles.

I use them, It's one of those perfect little touches that really sets your car apart

Plenty! The thickness of the spacer is the measured length of threading you will lose on your wheel studs. I have been yet to get a true determination of how many complete turns must you have on a lug nut to be considered safe? I've come across cars with as little as 3 turns, I consider that plain stupid.
Depending upon skill levels, replacing w/longer wheel studs can be done with simply a hammer and a lug wrench. Finding longer studs with correct length, correct thread pitch, correct diameter of both the shoulder and threaded section, requires some thought. Just to mention... too long will require a hacksaw, a file, and a creative mind... to figure ways to hold studs to cut without damage. errr... maybe ordering a couple more studs too.

There are quality spacers with studs attached but these add weight and many will not be "hub centric".
I'm **** about being hub centric, and without this you will lose your Lexus ride quality.

If he is getting the H&R 25mm spacers like eveyone suggested, then it will have studs attached to it and has the "lip" to keep the wheel hub-centric.

Default help!!!

All this spacer talk is making me want to speak up and ask questions. For some reason I can't sign in under my normal name (Mikeloc24) so I have to sign in under this damn noob account! Anyway here goes:

I have a set of 19x8 inch rims (a little skinny I know but read on) with a 45 offset. My stock offset on my SC is 50mm. My question is what size spacers would I need to make the rims meet the fenders flush? I've gotten various opinions so now I'm confused. I found this thing http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html that calculates what will change and it says that my rim will come out further 18 inches. Can someone let me know if I even will need spacers? I'm thinking that the fronts will be fine but I may need spacers for the rear, maybe 5 mm but I'm not sure. I plan to get H&R spacers but want to make sure I buy the right ones, if I even do need them that is.

Anyone who can help please chime in...ask as many questions as you like...I seriously need to make sure I get the right ones.

i answered you partly in the classified

if you want your 8" fit pretty flush to the fender front and back, i say 15mm for the front (20mm might be too much) and at least 25mm in the back (30mm probably will work as well). it won't be 100% but good enough

See, that's why I'm confused. Stock offset on the SC's is 50mm...these new rims are 45mm...a difference of 5mm...now, when I input the specs into this online calculator thingy (http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html) it says that my new wheels will come out an extra 18mm...if that's the case why would I still need spacers? If I add a 15mm pacer then that means the new wheels will come out 33mm? Is that right? Dang this seems too complicated to be real...I simply don't understand how offsets work in comparison to wheel size. This can't be this difficult!! Thanks for your help...
