sonie, welcome to CL... you asked a VERY broad question, so it is tough to answer. since you are new, you may not be aware of the search tool... try using that and hopefully you can come up with some info you are looking for... hopefully this is a start, and good luck

Thumbs up

Sonnie,

Welcome. I have a 98 GS400 and never had any major problem. I don't think there's any car out is without a problem, but Lexus is certainly getting close. Mine turns on everyday and I never questioned it. So giving me a peace of mind is worth alot to me. What's it worth to you? My GS is the best car I've ever owned. And I've owned quit a few. To me, you can't go wrong with Lexus

hmm thats good to hear, well i tried searching for what im looking for and i found little things as like power door actuator problems and something else. I dont feel the question is that broad because i am looking for a specific answer. I currently have a accord v6 and after buying it, i found that the 98-02 accord v6's have very unreliable tranmissions. So, this time, what bettter place to find crucial imformation then the lexus forums. I just wanted to know all i can prior to purchasing another vehicle.

many people have similar complaints that the car you purchase may or may not have.

Common issues I've heard of and have experienced on few occasions with my 98GS4:

Rattling noises from the sunroof and glove
Low idle prob - my car shakes from time to time while stopped at stop lights
Steering vibration at around 60mph (many people have fixed this either by rebalancing their tires, mines disappeared when I changed my suspension set up)

Other than those that I've listed, this car is amazing - solid luxury car with Lexus reliabiltiy as GSX4 said.

Also be on the lookout for condensation or moisture in the headlights. A lot of '98 GS owners seems to have that problem.
