Do you think I can get 250,000 miles out of my 98 GS 300, right now I have 77k. I wanna keep this car as long as possible. I drive alot and this is my only car and I drive about 30,000 miles a year.

I plan to get about 300k on my 99 GS300. I have 110,000 now and do about 40k a year. So in three years (I bought it used) I should be there!

There was a post a long time ago about a 90 or 91 LS400 that had over 500,000 miles on it. These cars are built to last, provided they are maintained properly. Good luck on your journey!

It will just be warming up!
The potential on pretty much any Lexus is over 400K.
As mentioned, LS's have seen 500,000! I've seen SC's
with almost 400K. What's more amazing is that these
cars still looked very good with those miles.

The weak point in todays cars is no longer the engine. Every manufacturer has mastered engine building. I would suspect your automatic transmission will fail at 150K, especially if you do frequent transmission flushes. You will loose the AC in the 130K range. Any car can go 1,000,000 miles if you replace components as they go bad. I would do the minimuim maintenance outside 5K oil changes. It has been shown in the nuclear industry, highly regulated and qualified people that if you work on a piece of equipment with human intervention there is a 55% chance you will have to rework the piece of equipment within 28 days due to issue that was created by the human intervention. I can assure you the percentage is much higher in the unregulated, non-qualified, GED plagued auto repair business. That is why I suggest performing minimium maintenance outside the 5K oil changes. For example bleeding the brakes at 30K only invites problems, we have all had cars 25 to 30 years old with the original brake fluid. You bleed the brakes, you strip out the bleed screw, you get contaminants in the system, you get air in the system etc. Coolant changes should occur no less than 100K miles.
I just sold a Bonneville with 130K miles, never used a drop of oil, had the original alternator, water pump (I never changed the coolant, I was waiting for the water pump to fail). Never changed the brake fluid etc.

One last comment regarding the engine - the inline 6 has been around in some form or another for over 20 years and if properly maintained should get at least 250K. I'd agree with the previous post that the tranny is more likely to give problems before the engine ever does.
