now, I'm a noob when it comes to this GS, as I too just got mine last week and I too also have this same problem.

I have done searching and noticed that this is normal. The fuse is blown. This happens when you plug ANYTHING into the lighter that AINT a LIGHTER!!! Apparently its not meant to draw a full 12v of current. Replace the fuse and don't use it for anything but its intended purpose

Default cigarette problem 2

I checked the driver's side fuse box. I think fuse 16 controls the lighter, but it was not burned out. what else could be wrong

Are you trying to use it while you have the ignition at ACC? Maybe there is no power when you don't have the keys inside.

First of all....why are you smoking in the Lex....that's just wrong!! LOL!!!

If its not the fuse, try removing the console area to see if any connectors are loose.

Well I've plugged a phone charger, and a radar detector, and both at once into that outlet, and no problems. Also, "12v" isn't current, it's voltage.

believe it or not, I have this problem too! Mine was caused by a bad / loose plug and when inserted in there, things went arc-y sparky.

My console area one works, but the one on the dash, with the ashtray does not work.

Seems like it's on a separate fuse than the console 12V, yes? Anyone know which fuse? I looked briefly but could not find it in the manual, or fuse box. Maybe I need to lok closer.

if the previous owner did a stereo upgrade , most likely he had his dash or console taken apart and never bother to plug the wire back in for the lighter. since i dont use the lighter or use it for other purposes i dont even plug it back in cuz it a pain in the azz. u propably need a small sharp nose plier for the job cuz u cant get ur finger in there to plug or unplug.

bought my 00 GS400 w/ navi with 35% smoke tint all around, no gps problems. Although I wish the guy before me went darker

I'll address that next year
