I think deep down you know wheter or not you want the Jaguar or the lexus. Just take your time on the decison and go back and for to the dealerships to look them over. The Jaguar, well in my experience - not sure about Sweden, is more rare on the streets so that is a plus. But, the GS truly is awsome such a great engine, power and luxury. Think about the difference of having a brand new car and a slightly used one too. Good luck - you are in a great prediciament!!!

Default Ford/Jag/loaners/etc.

Wasnt Jaguar bought by Ford? or the other way around?
Ford now owns Jaguar. My understanding is that Jaguar's reliability has been significantly raised as a result. My sister had a Jag XJ6 Vandenplas and it was a maintenance nightmare, but I know several people with late-model Jags (S Type, XK8, etc.) and they love them.

I think you're talking about the XK convertible as the "bigger version of the Miata", and it's not a fair comparison. It's akin to comparing the Avalon to the GS430 because they have a similar stance. The XK has a smooth[, optionally] supercharged V8 and a sublime interior; the Miata has a little 4-banger and loads of character, but that's about it.

Do you get loaners when your car is in the shop during services for jag? Or is it lexus that only does that?
The decision to give loaner cars is the dealer's, not the manufacturer's. I had an Acura TL before my GS430 and my wife has a BMW Z3. All three of the Austin dealers gave loaners for service work, but the Nashville Acura dealer (Gary Force) did not even offer one. Sometimes loaners are the same brand; sometimes the dealer establishes a relationship with a rental agency. Some dealers will only give loaners to customers who bought the car from that dealer. Again, it's up to the dealer.

I've been very happy with Lexus of Austin's service, but don't assume that other luxury auto dealers don't provide high levels of service, and don't assume that all Lexus dealers provide high levels of service. It can tend to be hit-or-miss.

Anyone take Autoweek??? Pix in this week's issue with Aussie with a "Shaguar" cap!! (Remember, last week's F1 was in Adelaide......) Funny!!

Always have wanted a Jag, but I don't know that the XJR would be it, tho I admired the elegance of the original XJs in all 3 series. Think I'd have to go with the GS in this situation.

Now if you were considering XKR.........

Hey, everyone, thanks for all the input!

I'm here kickin' it in the business lounge at the Zurich airport in Switzerland waiting for my flight back to Stockholm.

Just thought that I should let you know that I ordered a silver/black GS430 yesterday. I'll have it in 2-3 weeks.
