I have a sick love for the Cayenne. If it's 30-40k less than new, I'd get it.
BUt the Cayenne has single handedly killed Porsche quality ratings. It is VW based.
There are mods for the Cayenne and I am more inclined to push the TT instead of a S.

The other thing is a sporty SUV, ala Cayenne, FX, etc is like a sprinter running with high heels. Makes no sense really. Especially since they have much less space and cargo room to a real SUV.

It's just me but if and when I do buy an SUV, it will be a TRUCK.
Though the new RX 400H next spring is tempting.

But I dunno, 30-40k less than what it should be. Yeah the Porsche gets my vote..

If you need more space, then I would go for tha Cayenne, especially when you can get it for such a great price

I think that Lexus somehow missed this part of the SAV market, the RX330 is nowhere near it in terms of size and performance.

IMO the GX and LX do not have this Lexus appeal.

I think that the appeal came to me when the price was discussed. The whole idea of getting a Cayenne S for about half price is just insane. If I really wanted, I could then turn it around and sell it or trade it in. Either way, I am still waiting......one day closer.

Well, yes, I would buy anything if I could realize a nice profit. Best of luck on your decision.
See you on the Rennlist board if go that route.

Don't insult my intelligence. By asking that question, I was calling BS on you. I have an exceptionally hard time believing an SUV "packed full of people and luggage" would engage in a highway race, especially to 150MPH.

Dang dude....you never mentioned it this past weekend? For that price....hell yah...I'd get it. Better you than someone else....right? Buy it for the wife and child....then you can mod up the Subaru for yourself.

Btw....if this deal goes thru....what u selling from your GS?

Pete

Ricky-
If you don't get it, hook me up! I'll buy it for half the price of a new one! I'm serious!

my friend in his new ss wanted to see if he could hang.

that cayenee was hanging in there for the longest time. the cayenne let it go at 150. the ss went to 165.

But seeing that suv hang with a full load was pretty impressive.
Oh oh. And it's the V-6 version? The one clocked at 0-60 in 9 plus seconds. Packed with people and luggage.
What new SS? The Monte Carlo or Impala? 240hp slow mobiles?

Oh, BTW.

And just for comparions sake.
The Cayenne S features a naturally aspirated version of the new 4.5-liter Cayenne V8. Maximum power of 340 hp is obtained at 6,000 rpm, preceded by 310 lb-ft of torque all the way from 2,500 to 5,500 rpm. With Tiptronic S, the Cayenne S takes just 7.2 seconds to reach 62 mph with a top track speed of 150 mph

Front-mounted, 4.5 liters, V8, all-wheel drive, sport utility vehicle

340 hp @ 6,000 rpm

310 lb-ft @ 2,500-5,500rpm

0-62 mph: 7.2 sec
Top Track Speed: 150 mph
Towing Capacity: 7,716 lbs
Ground Clearance: 8.45 in
Wading Depth: 19.685 in

and the turbo

Front-mounted, 4.5 liters, twin turbocharged V8, all-wheel drive, sport utility vehicle

450 hp @ 6,000 rpm

460 lb-ft @ 2,250-4,750rpm

0-62 mph: 5.6 sec
Top Track Speed: 165 mph
Towing Capacity: 7,716 lbs
Ground Clearance: 6.18 - 10.75 in
Wading Depth: 21.85 in

The Cayenne Turbo is powered by a 4.5-liter twin-turbo Cayenne V8. Maximum power of 450 hp is obtained at 6,000 rpm, preceded by 460 lb-ft of torque all the way from 2,250 to 4,750 rpm. With Tiptronic S, the Cayenne Turbo takes just 5.6 seconds to reach 62 mph with a top track speed of 165 mph.

Inside the cockpit, all that data translates to a rich and engaging drive. A depth of performance that can only be achieved with genuine Porsche engineering.

Yes and No. the Cayenne is a really good deal and compared to the other SUVs in the same range the Cayenne is the best buy . But the SUv is a whole different thing compare to the GS, the GS has lots of class and luxary , with some mods , performance too. On the other hand if you really want SUV that bad , Cayenne for sure...

just imagine what you can do to the Porsche Cayenne S.

i would never buy something that's not as good as other things only because of price.

IMO a FX35 + supercharger/turbo kit from 350Z would be a much better choice but if the 1/2 price on the Cayenne is what you're aiming for then go ahead.
