Porsche Cayenne S or Lexus GS4
If all goes well in the next 48 hours, I may be selling my GS. Although I love my GS, I think I wanna try an SUV. My wife has a Forester XT and that puppy really moves. I know that at from a dead stop it goes 0-60 in 5.6. If this is the case. "blow out sale" "christmas in July" for some GS owners. keeping my fingers crossed.
I know these are 2 different vehicles but the offer is so intriguing
Would you keep the GS or get the Cayenne?

You should go over to the Porsche websites such as Rennlist and review all of the issues that Cayenne owners are experiencing which are numerous including depreciation that is mind boggling. I love Porsches and have owned many, but I would be very hesitant on a Cayenne after the comments owners are giving.

6speedonline.com is another good resource for P-car info, they have a decent 'Pepper forum as well.
IMHO, the purpose of the Cayenne is 450hp, I could not imagine giving up my 300hp 3700lb GS for a 340lb 5300lb Porshce. Also its no big secret that the Cayenne interior is not very luxurious, even when compared to the VW Toureg.
If you get a 'Pepper go for the turbo, (imagine that baby with mods), if not, I vote something else.

The Cayenne, IMO, is a waste of money.....LOTS of money. So is its brother, the VW Touraeg. For what a Cayenne costs.....or less....you can get a Lexus SUV. You state that you like your wife's Forester. Subaru makes an excellent AWD system (see my many other posts on this subject). There is a whole new line of Legacys and Outbacks this year....including turbo versions.
You also state you love your GS but want an SUV. Why not wait a couple of months and at least check out the 2005 All Wheel Drive GS?....it will give you your GS and at least some all-weather SUV capability besides.

Thanks for the input. No I am not willing to pay retail or even invoice on the vehicle. I would most likely pay almost 30-35K less. There is no damage to the car. The person really needs the money due to some unforseen and unfortunate circumstances. I just happen to be in the right place.

**** it! Do what makes you happy. I think the Porsche Cayenne S kicks ***. The SUV probably handles better than your GS. Of course you're giving up reliability but at least you can say I own a Porsche.

I've never liked the Cayenne in any way, period. I think that the Cayenne is a waste of money and if you're looking for a Porsche, why not go with a 911 Carrera with that money? There's only a slight difference, money-wise. You're like buying a sports car with a huge armor with it. The Cayenne was also in Top Gear's 50 worst cars and I kinda agree with them. It's just not right that a legendary sports car maker made an SUV with their race engines.
Stick with your Lexus GS, I know you wouldn't regret it. If you want a Porsche, get a 911. If you want an SUV, I don't know what your preferences are so I suggest look for something else.
Good luck with whatever choice you make.

my aunt just got one for around 50k, but' it's the v6 version. i'm diggin the car, especially the up top.
that car does have some major *****.
going to vegas, we saw a cayenne. that car was packed full of people and lugguage
my friend in his new ss wanted to see if he could hang.
that cayenee was hanging in there for the longest time. the cayenne let it go at 150. the ss went to 165.
But seeing that suv hang with a full load was pretty impressive.
