Default new gs lowering prices on current gs???

How quickly do you think this will happen and how drastically. I am in the hunt for a gs430 but don't want to buy one now at there current pricing if the release of the new body gs is going to drastically effect the value of the current body. What do you guys think?
Also, as bulletproof as these cars are if I am looking at a gs430 with 30-50k miles on it do you think it is worth the extra dough for a certified car (you all know that they get a fortune for these)?
Thanks in advance

the 05 gs430 is still going to be the same body style, so you don't expect to see price drop soon

Why not get a 400 that is pretty much at the end of it's depreciation cycle instead? You are never going to use that pre owned warrantee anyway if you find a used one in great shape and you get E-Shift to boot.

Or you could just buy a fox bodied mustang and drive one of those for really cheap. Hey I happen to know where a 93 coupe is for a good price. LOL

I agree on getting the 400 instead of the 430 but can't find a nice one. I may just have to wait and see if the release of the new car is going to grossly effect the prices of the current body style. If you look at the pricing on the 5 series bmw now that the new car is out the e39 cars 97-2003 have taken a hit. I don't want to buy a gs430 and in just a few months take a 5-7k hit due to the "new" car coming out.

Thanks for the replies

You might take a hit at the beginning of the new body style release but in the long run you would be fine with the body of the GS400 or GS430 similar to the effect of the 1990+ 300Z price history.

Bottom line, the currently body style has timeless appeal. Find a nice GS400 and let the modding begin.

Very good point, I think the long design cycles help with the equity of the model. Thats one reason German car companies used to run such long cycles (case in point the previous MB SL 90-01 or so?). If the 05 GS still has the 2nd Gen bodystyle then that will mark a 7yr design cycle for this model which is pretty much unheard of in Japanese circles (most are 4-5 yrs with a mid cycle "freshening" like the 04 LS).

I say weigh your preferences:
GS400 for performance (e-shift, cable throttle)
GS430 for added creature comforts (standard NAV, woodgrain wheel, yadda yadda).
