a loaded GS430 and a "base" (yeah...right....as if there is such a thing as a base LS) /non Lux package LS car are within $1K of one another.

When it comes to luxury cars its all based on emotion, you get what titillates you, so go and test drive and let your emotions move you and you'll be happy.
I had and I can say both are two worlds apart although in the same universe. I gave mine to my aunt just last week, she got rid of her E55 she's had all she could stand with MB electrical issues. The LS is a cruise liner her E was a luxury speed boat and I have to say somewhat of the same with regards to the GS. My aunt was in many ways ready to relax because everytime she got into the LS she would comment on how the car felt so living roomish my concern now is her falling asleep behind the wheel. My aunt and I are much the same when it comes to our cars so I can see her getting bored after a while with the LS as well, heck she had an E55.

Why did I give up the LS? Because I simply got bored with the car and nothing more, I guess its conservativeness coupled with the quite soft vibe you get from the vehicle can cause certain folk to grow away from the car and thats what simply happened to me with the LS. I don't knock the LS one bit I loved it when I bought it, its just time for another experience and right now its the new A8L and as soon as I can get some time I'm going to go and pick it up.

Default More deep thoughts.....

Thank you for all the ideas on my situation. I am going to test drive a 2001 LS430 next weekend. I do love my GS300, just think my personality fits with the LS430 more. Any thoughts on a couple more issues:

1. What would be a reasonable trade in value for a 2004 GS300 (MSRP 41,600) with 9800 miles. The deer accident was about $8000. ?

2. would a 1999 or 2000 LS400 be worth looking at or is the LS430 that much better??

3. What would you pay for a 2001 LS430 with aout 40000 miles?

Thanks very much in advance

Fred

1. i really don't know. but anything with accident would be a lot harder to sell for sure

2. i wouldn't look into ls400. no office, but the car is definitely old"er". the ls430 is more refreshing, newer, more neat features, quieter, more powerful

3. haha i am not there to buy the car yet, never really looked into the prices

That is what I am saying but everyone has their own likes and dislikes. PLUS it's still a Lexus at least you aren't considering buying a Mercedes or BMW. Still staying in the family
