I have a millenium silver lexus gs 300...2004. I love the car, unfortunately I did hit a deer (damn central pennsylvania!) 8 days after buying it. Repair was done reasonably well.
I have had the car for 6 months.
All the talk about the drunk driver hittting a beautiful GS is making me think.
I would like to keep my car for at least 10-15 years. I like the look and high praise the LS430 gets....would you recommend a 2-3 year old LS430 now and dump the gs or just keep my car and shut up lol.
Are they even comparable cars?
Thanks Fred

imho, they are in different class. even the pre 01 ls430 are not as fast as 04, it's still a lot faster than the gs3, and the ride is so much smoother and nicer
if i were you, i would get the ls430 in a heart beat. sorry but in my dictionary, a nice v8 owns.
and the car is so much quieter, bigger, more comfortable

Fred I'm with rominl, there is no way you can compare these cars, it's like apples and oranges. If you want to have prestige then go for the LS, 1st of all its Lexus's flagship meaning they go all out on it has almost all the bells and whistles Lexus offers, And its a very comfortable and luxurious car I would go for it 100% you will most definitely like it.
I’m not in anyway putting down the GS, I still love the GS400 but the LS is in a league of its own.

forgot to say, see, if yours is a gs4 it would be a decision to make coz' gs4 is definitely more sportier than the ls430. but the gs3, unless you plan on going FI or so (which somehow i don't think you would persue), then it's completely a no brainer on the ls430 imho ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
honestly, even for me with a gs400 and an is300 right now, i STILL consider a ls430

hmm.. i never knew you guys felt like that even about the 01 LS430. I just bought mines and I was considering giving it up in order to free up some cash to buy a house in hawaii. I love the car and all. I got it at a verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry good price too though! 35,000 out the door incl lic and reg for an '02 with only 23,000 miles on it. The GS will soon be up and running. I need to get some parts shipped out here via steve. u guys make me wanna keep my LS. by the way..... anyone know what kit that is on the daizen sport tuning banner/ad here on CL?

Looked at an 2002 LS430 this weekend. Two different cars. The LS430 would destroy the GS300 in a straight line race. That is where it stops. I perceived better brakes, more nimble and funner impression in the GS300. The interiors in my opinion were equal. The LS430 was a CPO 2002 with 40K miles and he was offering for 40,500. Now for the flames, it snap, crackled, popped so I decided it was not for me.

It sounds like to me, imho, that you may have some reservations about the car based on the "Repair was done reasonably well". It appears that you may be dissatisfied with the repair or "mentally" distraught over the fact that the car has been damaged period regardless of the quality of the repair.
Was a LS even an option when you originally purchased your GS300?
If you purchased based on economics the GS3, even fully loaded, was obviously a less expensive buy.
If you love the GS3, and purchased it more on the look and "sport sedan" class of the vehicle I am suprised that you wouldn't be looking at a 2001+ GS430 !!!
They are definitely 2 different breeds of car aimed at 2 different types of owners.
