My '98 with Nav and HID's was 1 of only 4 or 5 with those options that I came across in well over 6 months in the Central Florida area, back in 2002 when I was looking. I'd say that only about 10% of all the early GS's available on Traderonline had even Nav alone, not sure which of those also had HID though.
I searched and held out for almost a year until I found the "right " one, and I was determined NOT to compromise. Glad I didn't, no regrets.

I was lucky to find my 2001 GS3 with HID and Nav.
It was a lease return that came in the day I spoke to the saleman. I tild him the color I wanted and what features I was looking for on the car. He said, let me call you back, I think I may have something.
He called me back and said you are not going to believe this, your car just pulled up.
That was the begining of a great relationship. Me, my GS, and my dealership.

Finding a GS300 with NAV and HID is very difficult.
I was searching for a 2004 GS300 with NAV and HID. But I was only able to find one that also had the Mark Levinson System. So I had no choice but to pay and extra $1,000 for my GS300.
Good luck in finding one.

Yeah I think it's practically impossible to find one w/out the Lev system, if not impossible. I think that technically they're not inseparable, but I was told if you wanted it that way it was special order and had to be built in Japan. I got mine for the Levinson system because I didn't want to tear into a brand new Lex putting in a system, and the nav was more of a novelty. Now I'm probably more glad I got the nav...it's really great to have.

I just drove a 2004 ES330 with NAV recently and the newest NAVs are VERY VERY NICE. Fast, lots of details, comes with a calendar that you can make notes on, and even choose the color of the background.

you can change the background? heck I've got one and didn't even know that...lol. and if mine is a lot faster than the HD models I couldn't stand them...I get impatient with mine sometimes finding routes, but I guess that's just me... ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
edit - I do know you can change the map background from white to black, and I think some others. Can you change the kinda ugly brown on the info screens?

Ok, yeah that's how I have mine set...it turns white on black at night. I think mine is actually set to seasonal or something like that, but I haven't noticed any difference. Too bad you can't get rid of that brown on the info screens
