I agree that the CPO program is a marketing ploy in many aspects, but it really depending on the particular dealership. My CPO GS4 had some problems, too, but were all fixed under warranty.
CPO doesn't mean the car is problem free, but it simply means that there is a list of items the dealer checks and reconditions as necessary. XYZlexus1, didn't your dealer give you the CPO inpection sheet which includes the work done on the car as a part of inpection process? If you didn't, you should report them to Lexus.

I did not receive the inspection sheet. I reported to Lexus that my spare was 15 psig when I checked two days after I got the car, and the transmission was overfilled by 10oz. The dealer called and asked me to bring the car back to have the items corrected. I did not feel like driving 40 miles back and had already corrected the issues. The dealer told me to bring it in for a free detail. My reply is just give me what I paid for.

All;

thanks for your opinions.

XYZLexus1: is the $1800 price confirmed and the same nationwide with 0 deductible and transferrable?

I saw both the CPO and non-CPO cars and saw no significant differences (if any)

More questions:

1. can any CPO cars be painted on fender, bumper? or is it free of paint job?

2. I was thinking to trade in my C320 with 29K miles and in excellent condition with NAV etc (that I installed it myself but it's OEM and costs a lot) and with Bi Xenons (looks like Maybach headlights) and there is one non-LX dealer who asked for $5K with my car to get the 22K miles 01 GS3 (silver, great condition but has paint job on the front bumper) or $7.2 K including 5yr extended warranty from Warantech (?)

and they have 01 GS430 with 49K miles for $28.9K with hood paint work (claimed due to rock chips) with NAV

they also have incoming GS3 with 16K for $29K

their extended warranty is with 0 deductible

any opinions?

Go with the non-certified. Than if you like you can buy the transferable 7 year /100K warranty from Lexus for $1800. The extended warranty is much better than the certification which is not transferable and is a year less than the warranty. I like the 01 with 22K for 28.5, pick up 7 year / 100K warranty and you are at $30k. or blow the warranty off, the drivetrain comes with a 6 year 70K warranty anyway. [/QUOTE

The 1800 dollars was from a Lexus dealer in CA. Your local dealer will qoute $2300. If you want I will forward you the guys name PM with your email. Yes it is the zero deductible and transferable. I have not yet purchased since I do not know how long I will have the car. You have 4 years / 50 kmiles to make up your mind.

Smile warrenty and 300 vs 400

i had a $1700 warrenty om my 99 gs400 and decided that the car was so reliable i would never need it. i talked to a friend in the service department and he said just over half of the people never have an occassion to use the warrenty . so i cashed it in.

well first the a/c went out and that was $1400 and then the starter went out a month later. that was another $1200.

my wifes gs400 has never had a single problem and we did not get the warrenty with hers.

i still think that companies make money off these warrenty's and i would not buy one. the lexus gs is one of the most reliable cars you can get and i would bet my experience with two big ticket repairs is pretty rare.

one more opinion. for almost the same price get the 300hp gs400. the acceleration is so much fun and gas mileage is just dam near the same. 8 cylinders vs 6 is a no brainer in my opinion.
