Default What type of double sided tape for Body Kit?

Hey guys,

Well I'm getting ready to install my auto couture kit. I was wondering what type of tape I should use for the side skirts, and for the rear lip? Thanks

Other than things like the wing, I would not trust body parts to tape. Whether you like it or not, or how careful you are, eventually the kit will hit something since it is lower. Tapes are strong but I don't think they are meant for parts that can take an impact. You can use tape as a secondary way to attach it but I'd hope there are some screws/bolts involved. You might want to look into polyurethane too.

well it's coming off sprint6's car, and there was double sided tape already on there. the side skirts will have taped in the middle, and there will be 2 screws on each end. the side skirts actually go over the the existing stock skirts. the rear lip will be the same, except there will be an additional screw in the middle.

i'm just concerned about taking the tape off the stock side skirt, if i decide to go back to stock or resell the car.

Chris, this is just like the RMM skirt kits. The skirts are held by factory mounting holes on both ends and tape is used to hold the middle in place over the rocker panel area.

This is the stuff:
3M Automotive Acrylic PLUS Attachment Tape

PN or SKU# = 0 51131 06384 6

Available at automotive paint supply outlets. (Where the body shops get their materials)

Don't get the Home Depot or Art Supply Store Stuff.

This is the original OEM Approved double sided tape.

This stuff really sticks !

Thanks Glen. I was just concerned that tape was the only way it will be attached.

Sorry about the bank but cool. I know you were debating selling or putting it on w/o the wheels and suspension. This third alternative is nice. Did you decide on the wheels and suspension yet?

yeah, i got a pretty good deal from another member here for the wheels and the suspension.

I originally was thinking about getting the apexi worldsports because of the price from the gb, but it didn't seem that steve was going to have a group buy for those anytime soon. so i decided just to wait for some used tein's.

I was looking in the classifieds and i was lucky enough to find a member selling a set of staggered c2's, tein cs, and edfc. I jumped on the deal, and I now have everything ready for install.

I difinitely want to get my car ready for the next big meet in nor cal.

No prob. Since you are local, you can PM me if you wanna know where to get it, depending on where you live.

Yup you are doing the right thing getting your car ready for EOS V3. A LOT of people will be unveiling their new mods then; I guarantee it !
