road noise on the driver flooring
I've read so many posts on vibration etc...
however could not find one that exactly matches the one I am looking for.
I felt some type of road noise (it could be described as rattles) on the driver floor of 01 GS300. Someone has suggested to replace my tires and I did replace all 4 tires with brand new Michelin Pilot tires.
However I did not see any improvements in the noise reduction.
I could fee it at lower speed as well. Sometimes on a smoother road, I did not feel it as much.
Anyone has any idea?
Admin: I posted it here just because I expect more response in the general GS forum rather than in suspension/handling section.

Soundproofing your whole undercarriage might help. You are probably one of those people who are more sensitive to road noise than others. People like me don't really care much for them because my huge downpipe pretty much drowns any kind of road noise.
You can go to an audio shop and tell them to soundproof the whole floor but the process is quite tricky and involves removing all seats, ripping out all the carpets, dynamat (or the cheaper and I heard better Pink Panther) the whole floor, putting on new soundproofing carpeting material and putting the seats back in. While you are at it, you should do all your doors or go nuts, rip out your dash and do the part between your interior and the firewall.
I can guarantee you that the rattles will go away and your car will be silent as a rock. Well, it will be heavy as a rock too with all that new soundproofing materials

Actually,
Under the floor, on the frame, there are several large holes. These holes should be covered with a rubber "plug". Just bend over, and look at your frame. If you see holes, they need tpo be plugged..likely a grommet fell out. These do make for road noise if they are open.....
