OK, I know it's the same spoiler question. But can Lexus remove the rear deck brake light when I install a spoiler? I know I read in here that you can but I can't find that thread. The reason I'm asking again is because...

I call 3 dlrships here in MI and the one said that they never heard of this being done so I left it at that cuz I didn't want to sound like an ***. The 2nd one said that they do not do modifications and also has not heard of this but will get more info and call me back. The 3rd has also not heard of this but will find out.

I really want a spoiler, should I just have a body shop do this or just live with having 2 brake lights...ewww
I'd rather not get the spoiler

thanks...

The back shelf is cut in two ways from the factory, either to have an inside brake light or not. If the spoiler comes from the factory, they put in a back shelf without the light.

If you want to get rid of the brake light after having the spoiler put in, it's gonna cost ya around $600 to get a new back shelf.

The cheap solution is to black out the inside brake light. You could take out the bulb but if you do that, you'll get the light on the dash saying the brake light is burned out.

Sorry dude - no easy answer.

I used a ton of black tape...it worked perfectly! I am going to go with the limo tint all around too, so it will not be an issue...

You can get the brake light "cover" from your Lexus dealership. That's what they put on when the install the "optional" spoiler.

I just spoke to the dlrship and asked about the brake cover...figures he did not know what that was about...he said that he would not recommending doing anything but said that they could replace the whole back cover for $300...i guess that's pretty good considering people have gotten quoted $600. I was gonna go w/the black tape if it came down to it!

thanks for replies!

300 for the damn cover, then 300 for the relay...if you want the that light on your dash to to disconnected...600 total basically plus labor...
