Ouch!!
No, I didn't wreck the car but I got some kind of sticker shock when the local Lexus Stealer told me he would want between $530 - $590 to put in my new Precision Industries Torque Convertor.
Guess I'll shop around some more!

I don't think you should pay more than $250 I've had my TC swapped twice and the 2nd time I only paid 200. But 250 is a fair price, just go to a mechanic and just let them know that you’re only willing to pay 250. It will save both you and the mechanic a lot of time.

If you can get the dealer install it and still honor you factory tranny warranty, even they charge $600, it's worth it.! Trust me, I had dealer installed a brand new tranny for my GS4 whilch was more than $4k

good thought on the warranty thing. he did mention "no warranty", which just kinda went in one ear and out the other for me because the car is loong out of warranty anyway.
btw, REGGIEK, I'll do your shocks and springs for half that!! It really ain't that hard. Try a local "ricer" shop. A friend of mine owns one here and he told me the shop rate would be around $200. I ended up doing it with some friends in the driveway. Took about 4 hrs, normal tools aside from the spring compressor. (which is rentable) BTW, I consider myself mechanically handy anyway......

Ok come on 100 bucks in fluids... what kind of fluids do you use rominl
I have my own mechanic down here in LA, specifically he’s around Northridge or CSUN area if you’re familiar with the school. I have done a lot of business with him and he does a very clean and precise job. The only gripe I have about him is that he is always so busy, I have to call in and request an appointment to get my car worked on. But other than him I will not let anyone else work on my car.

and pulling the tranny out, change the tc, and put back the tranny, honestly that should be more than 2 hrs?

I see what you mean and your totally right rominl, and come to think of it the 2nd time my mechanic had to swap out the TC it had only been 2 weeks since I had it installed in the 1st place. So when we inspected the fluids they were perfectly clean with no debris in it. So we just reused that fluid, so that was the reason it turned out cheaper then the 1st time.
