The TPS sensor is located on the throttle body on the side of the throttle. The sensor senses how much the throttle is opened. I think if it is damaged you will get a check engine lamp.

Wow, doesn't sound good. Not sure how a problem with the throttle control could make the tranny 'grind'!

Unless someone here really knows, it sounds like you might have to get your car to a dealer ASAP.

How did you clean your throttle body?

well i drove it up to auto zone to have the thing checked and it was the throttle body sensor. i thank you for all yalls help, what a drive could not go over 25 mph but it had to be. i think the grinding was because my rpm was to high it only has 70000 miles on it and very well taken care of.so i hope nothing is wrong with my tranny. but i will replace it asap so i will let yall know.once agian thank you for your help.
i cleand it the normal way in took it off used throttle body cleaner and wiped off the tuff stuff but nothing out of the ordinary

i picked up the senser at sewell lexus in fort worth.what great people i called them they said they had it in stock so i drove over there. i get there and they dont have it.what the hell. but they do the next best thing. they grab a new throttle body(they cost about 1000)take the senser off and ask if i want that one.well hell yes iwill use that one. now they put a little white dot on the screw so u know if it has been removed. so at the price of 104 and some change i get my part. drove the g35 home put it on and every thing is great. i also did my spark plugs tranny drain and fill and oil change. thanks for your help
