How to remove tweeter
Hey moderators. Could you leave this one up for a while before you move it over to the audio forum? I'm sure someone here knows the answer.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the front door tweeter? I've got the door panels off as well as the tweeter grill. I've also removed the bolt that holds the mounting bracket in place. The tweeter moves around in its little housing, but there is still something behind it holding it on. I didn't want to pull at it too hard because I was afraid I would break something. Does anyone know how to disconnect it? Thanks in advance.

Once you have the door panel off you need to pull the black trim thats around the window off and there is a bracket with one bolt and nut holding the bracket and tweeter on. Look at that site and scroll down until you see the pic I'm talking bout.

Thanks, blue. I got that far, but even when you remove that bolt and pull the bracket off of that bolt, the tweeter still remains in place. There's something behind the tweeter holding it in there. Am I making sense?

Absolutely, There is nothing that is actually holding the tweeter back, it is the black window frame around that bracket that you have to pull out from the tweeter for it to slide over the bolt and the whole brack to come out.

Okay, sorry, I wasn't too clear. I removed the nut, pulled the plastic window frame aside, and pulled the mounting bracket off of the bolt. With the mounting bracket off of the bolt, the bracket would rotate about a point that's directly behind the tweeter. In other words, the tweeter is still fixed somehow directly behind it. The whole assembly will rotate, but the tweeter won't come out.

Thanks, blue. I'll get back in there later tonight. Once I remove the mounting bracket from that bolt, you're saying that the whole assembly should come out of there, right?
On a separate note, I am waiting on a set of Boston Acoustics SL speakers to come in, and I am trying to do the prep work in advance. Would you happen to know generally what most tweeters look like in the back? I am trying to figure out whether they come pre-wired (in which case I would have to splice additional wire onto the end of the pre-wiring to reach the crossover) or whether there are terminals on the back (in which case I would need to crimp some sort of plug onto the end of some speaker wire).
