Question

Trying to get some opinions about changing stock 17" rims to 19". 1) Is there a big difference in ride comfort? 2) thinking of going to 9.5 but I heard the car will be harder to handle on freeways where the pavement is uneven, and in the rain, any opinions? 3)Is launch affected? 4)Since I drive a lot (commute) are 18's more practical and/or has anyone tried running 19"/8.5F 9.5R with 35 series rear and 40series front. I know it will slightly alter the spedo but will I gain by having a smoother ride.

Thanks for your comments.

Default personally,,,,

since budget is quite a factor for me, i would just go for the 18*8.5/9.5 with 245/40f and 275/35 rear

if you were to go for the 19s but still with 40 and 35 combo, my concern is with too large of an overall diameter change. my research tells me that in the long term, is not ideal for the suspension. but i see you have the teins, so i am uncertain if such combo would ruin the coilover been that the overall diameter might be too tall.

anyone with 19s want to post some experience?

Thumbs up

i think your choice of going to 19's over the 17's is a great idea. 19's will fill up your fenders a lot better than 18's without slamming your car to the ground.
(1) my ride came a little stiffer but nothing outragous.
(2) i have 10's in the rear and have no problems on uneven or rainy grounds.
(3) i feel that with 275's on the back, the more tire patch on the ground, the better my launches will be.
(4) i use my GS as a daily driver so i don't think 18's will be more practical but that's my opinion, but to run 40's in the front and 35's in the rear would be limiting yourself to only 1 maybe 2 tire manufactures if that.
hope this help's you in your decision between 18's and 19's.

itsallgood....

Thanks for your reply. If I can ask a few more questions...

Do you have to be a lot more careful over bumps and holes riding 19 vs 17?

On an unrelated matter, how do you like your TC?

Mahalo

To anybody else....
Is there anyone out there that has 19" wheels that after running with them would stay with 17s or go to 18's because of the ride?
