While reading the literature about the GS430 last night I saw that the CD changer on the standard stereo now has an in-dash 6-disk changer. What -- no more upside down CDs, put it in the glove box where I can't reach it while driving cassette -- as in my GS400?

I haven't seen the changer on a 430 since all the ones I've seen at the dealer have NAV and ML. Is this true? If so, that's a nice change. Do I also get more glove box storage space?

My fiance' has the an in-dash unit in her Avalon and it's pretty convenient. A lot more useful than the glove box version IMO.

I have the standard radio on my GS430 and I still have the changer in my glove compartment with the cartridge where you load the CDs upside down. sorry to disappoint you.

Default cd

Marty, I have the Levinson system, and the changer is likewise in the glovebox. This, to me, is an improvement over the location of my previous changer (93 SC300, 5 spd) - in trunk, at right rear, tho it did somewhat serve as a wear indicator for rear shocks.

Default Oh, well

Sounds like I'm the victim of marketing speak. I guess if you consider the glove compartment part of the dash then the current CD cassette is an "in-dash 6-CD changer".

Anyhow, you're right mooretorque, having the changer in the glove compartment is a hell of a lot more convenient than the trunk or under the seat. But, it's a major stretch from the driver's seat (which I keep in its rearmost position) to the cassette well in the glove compartment.

Now, a really creative marketing person could use your comment to sell the trunk mounted CD changers as "shock absorber condition monitors". It's not an obstacle. It's a feature.

Marty - I've got 3 CD cartridges, and keep 1 in the center armrest - it's pretty quick and easy to pop the current one out and the other one in. The third one I keep in the slot to the right of the changer.

I know the LS430 and the SC430 and I think the IS300 have them but I dont know about the GS430 I havent seen one with the in dash cd changer yet but it might be a late 2001 or 2002 option
