That panasonic setup is AWESOME !!!

How many dvd's go in that dvd changer?

Could you give me these prices separately:

How much did the whole monitor part cost?
The DVD changer part?
Installation?

It looks sooo good and probably is really good too !
Have you ever thought about or know somebody who has done computers in their car? (not just laptops, whole desktop computers in trunk with keyboards and lcd's as monitors, etc)

I would greatly appreciate any input, thanks in advance.

I am not simply doing it for music, plus with the desktop setup, the only thing showing will be the mini black dell keyboard with mouse tracball, and the 6.4" VGA 640x480 color lcd on the headrest.

I am looking for something like a picnic table to hold the keyboards so that they fold away when not in use. I can imagine the whole setup really well but the picnic tables cost $3,000 for 2 that are all around genunie wood and custom made (from that Rau guy, read my real wood steering wheel post). That's not too much considering what you get, but too much for my purpose.

Do any of you know of anyone who sells picnic tables for automobiles, if you don't know what I mean by picnic tables, click here: http://www.rau-autowood.com/tables.htm

Thanks in advance for any input, as for the music I have a removable drive bay hard drive setup in mind, plug and play, take it where you go kind of thing.

Ofcourse this would mean that I can only download songs from one computer at my home and plug the drive in it to save it in them, while with a laptop, I could take it anywhere in the world to download songs, however, that would require internet connection AND it would almost always be slow, cable connection is only at home, so I rather stick to the drivebay harddrive thing.

Default Setup Cost

No DVD changer....just single DVD player on bottom.
Cd changer is in arm rest! (6cd's)

I bought from a best friend, $1300 FOR THE WHOLE SETUP. He paid like $2400 NEW (only had 2 months), which was a good deal for all 3 pieces!

I ordered the Brushed Aluminum kit, to match the radio. I've had it for like 3 days.....I'll put it in later on today and post the pics.....didn't want the woodgrain.....gonna try something different!

Default wireless access

Wireless Internet Access would be so slow and with the vehicle moving it would be very IMPRATICLE to download music from the net! The average 5meg file won't download with 56k, so I don't think WIRELESS access would be any better, if not worse since you don't have a direct connection.

yeah I know that about wireless, I ofcourse thought about it at first, but then the numbers 14.4/28.8 came in mind, and I just put the wireless internet idea aside for a while till they come out with faster networks

if any one of your friends ever have any other really cool stuff like that for sale then please post them on this site if you don't mind, your system looks so good and $1,300 is a great price, does it do navigation too? how is the music from it? is it comparable or better than nakamichi?

Mostly we buy from each other....BUT I will post if I don't need it or want it He just got a 2001 surburban, with alpine tv/dvd, and 22" RIMS
If I was at work I could post a pic....maybe tomorrow!

The Panasonic does do nav....I think they all do but Eclipse is only voice nav. Sound is GREAT, but I'm getting better speakers this weekend and 1 - 10" SUB put in, so that will help a LOT!!!!!!

more pics coming soon!

Here's alot of car computer installations:
http://www.mp3car.com/exampleresults.asp

You can buy a full set up here:
http://www.gnetcanada.com/

As soon as I get my GS in a couple of weeks I will start building my system. I'm going for a full trunk-mounted PC with removable HD (something like 60 gigs), DVD-player and wireless internet. I also plan to put a wireless network card in it (11 Mbit/s) with a range of 330 feet. That way I can just park the car outside my house and download files from my other computer.

I'll try to connect the PC to the navi screen. It looks as if it can be done.
