99 GS300 does it have a timing belt or timing chain
my 99 GS 300 has 85,xxx miles on it and I am getting ready for the big 90k service and I was wondering if the car has a timing belt/water pump or does it have a timing chain, The stealer quote me $1300 for the job but then a local mieneke shop quote me $720 for a full tune-up including serpentine belt and then they told me the car has a timing chain that does not need to be changed unless I have issues with it, kinda confuse me so I figure I ask

they are probably talking about the belt that drives the power steering, water pump, alt....etc. Prices are sure crazy over there! I had the timing belt, water pump and thermostat replaced for about 400 at the dealer! good luck!

I would call Steve Ganz at carson for all the parts and have a certified mechanic do the install.....you'll pa atleast have of the "stealerships" cost...
