Default gs 400 Cruise Control Problems

When I put the car in cruise control it maintains the speed just fine, however when I step on the brake or turn the cruie control off it won't. The brakes slow the car, but the cruise control then maintains the car at whatever speed I let off the brakes. The only way I was able to disengage the cruise control was to disconnect the battery cable. This seems to have "reset" something. I rarely use the cruise control, twice in 60,000 miles so it took me a while to find the problem. Now that I know this is a problem I just don't use it, however I'd like ot know if anyone has experienced this problem with their cruise control? Any possible inexpensive solutions?

Nothing is more valuable (or important) than the safety of yourself and others when you're driving your vehicle. I was frightened as I read about your problem - not being able to disengage your cruise-control at speed is one of the most disconcerting events I can imagine while driving - I kept wondering how you were able to successfully handle this situation. I am glad that you and your vehicle came out of this safely. Now is not the time to be pinching pennies (i.e., "any possible inexpensive solutions"). This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening malfunction. I would take this problem to the dealer or a certified Lexus mechanic - best case, there may be some sort of recall or warranty that applies; worst case, you spend a few dollars, but the problem is fixed and you have peace of mind. Good luck and let us know what happens.
