A variable speed belt grinder with loose buffing wheel . Direct shot of the speed controller built into the motor base:

This lens came from Kansas off a car that was damaged in a flood. The lens was quite hazy and had sediment throughout. It is not close to factory new yet with some gentle clean-up and buffing, this is how it photographed. It still has some rough areas yet at typical viewing distances, you won't notice the imperfections unless up close. For being close to 25 years old...not to bad.
