like KVA just said u can get a prolex s/c for like 4500.00 and 800.00 installed and b faster than a 430 anyday at about 250rwhp. also u can do a toyomoto s/c for like 7k installed and b even faster than that, around 300rwhp ...with turbo u can get much bigger numbers but u might have hard shifting, lag but with the s/c kits u can get better than 400 or 430 power and still b comfy... its up to u tho...i like the power of the 400 a lot but even that gets u wanting more eventually and thier s/c aren't made anymore unless u find one used...

What do you mean...I can still get around $32K for my '02 SD model GS300

Basically it has only depreciated a few thousand dollars...

I thought I wanted a GS300. I drove about 5 of them while looking. I drove one GS430 and bought it the next day. No comparison at all. The 430 is so much smoother and quicker it's unreal. The 430 effortlessly pulls at ANY speed or RPM.

BTW-I don't get why all these GS4/430 guys are trying to talk this guy into keeping his 300.

I know it's a corny old school saying but it's so true. "There's no replacement for displacement

V8 is the onyl way to go. And I only have an SC400 with the old-skool lexus V8!!

Seriously... turboing car is a long drawn out process, theres already a TRD supercharger availble for the GS400, and 430 I believe. If you dotn have enough power with that, your simply barking up the wrong tree.

TRD does not make a S.C. for the GS400/430... As a matter of fact, now that RMM has sold out on all their S.C.'s for the GS400, V8 owners are now stuck without Forced induction until another company steps up to the plate. SRT makes a Twin Turbo setup for the 400 but that will cost you over $30k...not realistic for your average Lexus owner.

However, the following companies make turbo's/S.C. for the IS/GS300 between $5-10K that will easily put out over 300 HP to the wheels which is about 50-60 more HP than a stock GS4.

Toyomoto - TBKO- ProLex Performance - SRT - PHR - Turbonetics - XS Engineering

For daily driving the V8 gets my vote. However, if you are looking into turning your Lexus into a beast, the GS300 has a ton of potential.

okay...one BIG complaint about my gs430....LAG IN ACCELERATION...yes it pulls on start off...but the drive-by-wire kills me..... if for some reason i wanted to step on the gas and go while im already rolling at 50+ and i need to speed to get out of a hairy situation....trust me...it can become quite sketchy seeing how there is a 1-2 second delay before the car responds to the immediate step down on the pedal...

if you want immediate power in acceleration...the 430 is DEFINATELY NOT THE WAY TO GO.... but if ur still stuck on a v8....get the 400.... I would get rid of my 430 for a 400 anyday if it had exactly the same setup i was running...

anyways...gs300 gets my vote still!

I love the fact that when you have a GS 300 you have unlimited potential. I mean isman from IS300.net has a Turboed IS 300 that is almost at 1,000 rwhp, Sounds pretty nice, but then again I am a speed demon

Panda-sounds like you have more than the average lag or you may be slightly exagerating. My GS430 has no delay -when you hit the gas it goes. The only thing I ever notice is if you are just accelerating normal it lets of the gas a little between shifts, and you can adapt with smooth throttle control.

i have a GS430...and now RMM doesnt have Supercharger anymore, if i were u , i would maybe stock with GS3 and custom a supercharger kit, or from PLP, or if you get a GS430, you will have to go with the custom route now as well since RMM kit is sold out already...
Handling-wise, GS300 is MORE balanced than the GS400/430, trust me i have a GS430 and i drove my friend's GS300 all the time, stock to stock, GS3 is more balance because it is lighter( iknow only by like 200 or 300 pounds but you can tell the differencE!)

I don't understand some of you guys...

I bought a maxima-modded the hell out of it and killed the little "luxury" it had

I bought this lexus to keep it what it was-LUXURY.

I just don't get people who buy a luxury car to add boost to it, to make it into a supra-which is what they should've bought in the first place.

IMO, if you want fast-buy a sports car

if you want luxury and some power to go along for the ride, get a GS400 or a 540i

IMO, it's like geting a Luxury car and killing sports cars, how many M5s or GS 400s/GS430s can kill Lambos and Ferrari, I dunno that's just my opinion, but than again diffrent strokes for diffrent folks.

The 430 is only 65lbs heavier than the 300 and I have driven many GS300s and I think my 430 handles same or better.
Buy a 430 and you don't HAVE TO mess with it just to make it fast. 300 hp with a motor that you can hardly tell is running at idle and under 100% warranty in a luxury car is nothing to take for granted. That's a home run in my book.

I think it's just because of the potential that he hasn't looked into yet. I know the power, or lack there-of, in the 300 has so many options. Granted the 400/430 is amazing right off the bat, but so much more expensive to upgrade in the power dept. than the 300 if you look into FI. I am another 400 owner, but i wouldn't say to keep his 300 if he is looking for power w/o mods, then i would def. recommend a trade in!

the handling is almost the same in both classes.

V8 = most we can do is supercharge which is cool....

I6 = supra motor = twin turbo = HUGE potential....which has a cool factor of about 10+

I mean interior wise...theres nothing you cant get that a 400 or 430 doesnt have...besides the engine...

if that is your main concern is the power....dont do any cosmetic mods, save up and just boost the sucker...

go to Supraforums.com or check out our sc300/400 forum.....

I say keep the car! ultimate decision is yours though
umm... actually, the 300 motor is good but not that good imho. yes it's a supra engine, but it's far from the GTE engine in the supra tt, which is a true dream for tuner. the GE engine in the gs300, as well as the is300, it's not that easy to work with in some sense. if you want some major power out of it and the car run reliable, expect to spend over 10k for the setup for sure. you will need to upgrade a lot of stuff together witht he turbo just to make sure the car runs cool and reliable

Quick Reply: I shoulda listened... (should have bought GS4 instead of GS3)
