With the new 6 speed tranny from the 04' LS430 I think it will be a tad quicker.

It might be heavier and have more ultra low emission BS though Has anyone seen what 2006 curb weight is supposed to be?

The new LS430 is supposed to be at least equal to the GS4X0 with the new 6 speed tranny, so I would say without a doubt the new GS will be faster still. Case Closed. Close the poll, I have answered your question.

Easy there tough guy. I didn't know you were the all knowing authority.

You have raced a LS430 against a GS430??

The projected 0-60 time is 5.6 based on the info in this post https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hreadid=135821

It's rare for a new model to not at least equal the previous model in performance.

Perhaps, but according to information on Lexus' factory web-site; the 1998-2000 GS400 was faster 0 to 60 than the GS430 (5.7 vs 5.8 sec). The 430 listed the same HP and TRQ as the 400 but achieved it at slightly lower RPM's and yet the 400 was quicker to 60 MPH

The 430 listed 325 lbs tq. up from the 400. I don't think those factory 0-60 #'s mean much. We will just have to wait and see.

I still don't buy the statement that the LS is as fast as a current GS43

I read in one of the car magazine that the 0-60 is est. to be 5.6. Again, estimated. So I don't know. But I will not be surprised is the performance is the same. Lexus spent most of the development cost on appearance and passenger comfort. They didn't feel the need for upgrading or reworking the engine. Hense, same numbers as the 2nd Gen GS. Except that the GS300 maybe now the GS 330.
