What do the V8's sound like with exhaust. It wont be liek adding a catback to a mustang and getting this huge roar right, will it have a sound of rice, or will it be more toward the mustang ally, anyone have a sound clip for me to listen to?

I'm going to say it will sound a bit like a combination of the two. It will have the deep sound of a V8 with a little bit of the zing of the "rice" sound. It would also depend on the exhaust you choose. Check all your options and talk to people with exhausts on Lex V8's and see what they have to say.

I met an older guy(mid 50's)at a McDonald's on I-10 in Palm Springs, CA who had a tricked out GS400. He had engine, suspension, stereo, and exhaust mods. He had the carbon fiber Borlas and they sounded great. No rice zing at all. Deep, low, rumble only!

check out www.borla.com they have a sound clip for there exaust but remember that each exaust sounds diffrent so if you dont like it dont rule out the exaust cause from what I read the borla's are actually one of the loudest ones out there but if you want a quiter exaust you should look into L-tuned's I rad some where that they are very quit

Still seems like we're all quoting blind here because we haven't hear side by side comparisons of all these exhausts. I tried recording mine with a laptop and external microphone this weekend, but the recording was pretty worthless.

Anyway, one thing I wanted to say is that the L-Tuned is NOT 'very quiet'. Low pitch rumble at startup, I will say it's very quiet at warmed up idle though. But at part throttle (2000rpm) there's a resonant sound which is louder than when I get the rpms up (e.g., 4000) although part of that effect is because at 4000 the engine is louder too.

Anyway, I really like the L-Tuned exhaust. It's NOTHING like (sound or looks) the stock one.

I have the HKS Hiper Exhaust on my GS400 and am very very pleased. It was a very deep tone, and nothing even close to a "rice" zing. I had a hiper on my Supra TT and it wasnt even close to a rice zing either. Here is a link to a sound clip of the exhaust on my car.

Guys .. you should search up old threads.. The Borla exhaust is one of the quietest, next to the Lexus L-Tuned exhaust... It gains 8HP at the wheels however, and about 13 if paired with a K&N drop in filter... This was dyno'ed by a fellow member.. The Borla CARBON FIBER is loud, the Stainless steel is pretty quiet.. It has a deep rumble that sounds smooth like an inline 6 but deep like a V8... It's quite different from any other exhaust sound you will hear... One of the members used to have a video clip of his GS400 w/ a Borla accelerating away... I would definately recommend it, it's at a good price, gains HP, and sounds just perfect... On the freeway you can hardly hear it at all but on local streets and accelerating at between 2-3K RPM it gives a deep rumble...
