Default cleaned up my engine bay

Spent quite a few hours today detailing the top part of my engine bay today. I could only reach the top part since most of the bottoms are unreachable by hands or brush. I like how they turn out. Ok, there's some photoshopping involved to accentuate the shine, but it's that clean...really!!!

My next mini project would probably change all the silicone hoses into red or blue.....or something....

Jon,

you always have something going on with your car eh? modding is never done. I wish my engine bay looked that clean! Wish I had that engine under my hood too..

looking good mang , too bad you could not get the blueish color like on the cam cover or i guess repaint all the covers to match the hoses.. bluelex has that without the hoses but man with the chrome and blue its really a pretty sight under the hood..

The guy with the stock car is posting about another members car again...

Jon, I think that the hoses would brighten up your engine bay..

I just think it's stupid and ignorant that someone would consider installing blue silicone hoses under the hood, could make a car like Jons rice..I think that shbby is mad because Jon has more done under his hood than his entire car..

Look like you need to clean the visible inside of your air intake... there's quite a bit of dirt built up there from what it looks like.

Also it looks like you're using a cheaper silicone-based rubber dressing to get the plastic/rubber to shine. Not only does this produce more of a greasy look, but it also attracts dust, and does more harm than good for the life of most of your componants.

I strongly suggest you consider 303 Aerospace protectant if you haven't already. Never overly shiney looking... just makes things look more like showroom new/clean. And at the same time, the chemicals inside 303 are actually absorbed into your hoses, belts, and gaskets and help to extend their life greatly by replenishing the chemicals which give rubber its factory elasticity and durability.

Here's a shot of my 99 GS400 w/ around 60k miles with about 5 or 6 minutes tops, a cotton rag, and a very small amount of 303 protectant. Nothing else. Didn't even clean it beforehand.

Dang, Threxx, you definitely put my engine bay to shame. Your car looks showroom new!!!! Anyway, it was the photoshop job that made the engine bay a lot shinier than it really is. All I did was use degreaser to all the parts that I could reach, cover up the electrical parts and then hose everything off 15 minutes later and then dry the bay up as clean as I could and let the warmed-up engine do the rest of the drying. The built-up dirt in the intake can't be helped. I tried my best cleaning it but it stayed a weird brown color. Maybe I should take your suggestion and use that 303 stuff.

Oh, and let's ignore NT2SHBBY, the guy was just pissed because I didn't support hin on sophia's thread.....

No I haven't had a chance to dyno the car. As soon as the engine mods were done, I had the car in the garage getting the bodykit done....now I think the car is a lil too low to go up the dyno ramp.....

....there's a car on Club-aristo.net that has the same exact mods as me (but he replaced his ECU with Mine's ECU whereas mine's a Microtech unit) and he dynoed at 460hp. I usually "discount" the number by around 20% because of our severely bad gas here. So I always tell people my car should be around 375-380hp......that's at the wheels.
